When the Marvel/Netflix collaboration was announced, four characters were revealed to be getting their own series, and would then team up for Defenders. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage have been made or are in the making, but Iron Fist has been left with the least amount of news. Until today.
It’s been revealed that Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist, has been cast. He will be played by Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones, who played Ser Loras Tyrell, The Knight of Flowers.
In the comics, including current comics, Danny Rand is good friends with Luke Cage. And at one point was on an Avengers team that was headed up by Cage and Jessica Jones, and would later add on Daredevil. Iron Fist is considered the greatest martial artist in the Marvel world (that the main comics take place in), which will definitely add its own flair to the Netflix show. Also revealed via Entertainment Weekly is the synopsis for the show:
“Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.”
