Some teams just work well together, and thus they make legendary games. For the developers that made Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, they definitely qualify for that honor. At E3, the last in their current trilogy, The Last Guardian, got reintroduced to the world, However, as Fumito Ueda (the lead for Last Guardian) has revealed on Twitter, he’s got the whole team back together, and they have formed a new studio called genDESIGN
“Last summer, I started a small studio with some of my old collaborators to challenge myself and try something new,” says Ueda. “Since last summer, I’ve been working from a smaller studio I formed with the original staff who helped make Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
“Together we hope to challenge our personal creative limits and the possibilities of what games can be, both with The Last Guardian and beyond.”
So while the whole team may not be on The Last Guardian, they will be back together in full for whatever game they make next. Seeing as how they came out of nowhere and impressed the world with Ico all those years back, that just makes me excited for what brilliant idea they may come up with next.
