Glitch Results In Pokemon Smorgasbord
All the Pokemon you can eat — if you act today.
In the biggest game-breaking catastrophe since Missingno, Reddit users discovered a glitch in X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire that allows the user to instantly generate any Pokemon they want into their stockade. It really works. I just tried it and got Mew.
In preparation to pull this glitch off, you must first clear your 3DS’s browser history and cookies. You must also use the 3DS or the 3DS XL (the “new” model just released has a different browser where this won’t work). Start up your Pokemon game, head to the nearest Pokemon Center and boot up your in-game PC, go to “Organize Boxes” and leave a blank space in the top left corner of Box One. Close out the PC, DON’T MOVE your character (he or she must remain in front of the PC) and hit Home, then hit both shoulder buttons to launch your camera. Select the QR Code button, then scan the code for the Pokemon you want. Use this subreddit to get a code.
The browser will close and you’ll get an error message; ignore it and hit Home again to return to the game. Now boot up your PC again. The Pokemon you want will be in the blank space you left. Move it out of the way and repeat the steps to get another!
There are a few things to keep in mind. One, these will count as traded Pokemon, so you can’t change their names and their stats won’t develop as well as one you caught yourself (but hey, free shiny Jirachi). Two, you might think you can fill up your Pokedex in an hour, but the Dex won’t sense that you have those monsters until you actively do something with them, such as moving them to the PokeBank and back, or putting them in daycare. Also, even though the anti-hack detector doesn’t sense most of them, don’t take them online — don’t be that guy.
This glitch is not yet patched, but it will be. Set aside whatever important real-life tasks you needed to get done today and start hoarding as many Pokemon as you can grab because this exploit will be closed before you know it.
