Ghost Doctor is a supernatural and medical Korean drama series, currently streaming on Viki. Supernatural K-dramas are popular as are Korean medical dramas. When the two genres are combined, the series or movie that results will likely receive high marks.
♦ Plot Summary: Ghost Doctor (2022)
A brilliant professor and cardiothoracic surgeon, Cha Young-Min, makes decisions about the patients he chooses to operate based on whether they have a 1% chance of survival. Other than that, it’s wasteful use of his invaluable skills. He has been tasked with mentoring a young resident doctor, Go Seung-Tak, who also happens the grandson of the hospital’s chairman, i.e. he’s the foundation’s heir. When it comes to the resident doctor’s knowledge and understanding of human anatomy and modern medicine, he and the professor are both “geniuses”. However, when it comes to applying his KSAs (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the operating theater, the resident doctor is extremely lacking. In other words, explaining it and doing it are two different things.
Cha Young-Min is involved in a car accident. It takes a few minutes for him to realize he is having an “out of body experience”; and that HE is the person on the operating table. The person who is performing the operation is none other than the young resident doctor. Cha Young-Min’s spirit goes into the body of Go Seung-Tak and guides his hands so that he can perform a successful surgery. From that point forward, the resident doctor performs surgeries using the skills of the surgeon who has possessed his body.
But that’s not all. There is something suspicious, even treacherous, going on at the hospital involving a VIP (Very Important Person). Since Cha Young-Min is in “ghost form”, he aims to uncover and expose the misdeeds and possibly criminal acts of all who are involved. Perhaps his “accident” was not really an accident.

The storyline reeled me in immediately and the two (2) main characters had great onscreen chemistry. Also, I confess that my opinion is somewhat biased because I am a loyal fan of Kim Beom. He won my heart in “Boys Over Flowers” (2009) and won it again in “Tale of the Nine-Tailed” (2020). K-dramas where his name appears with the cast automatically get added to my watch list. Whether he plays the main role or is part of the supporting cast, he never disappoints.
