Zyuranger's really beginning to grow on me

I used to think this sentai was at the bottom of the barrel until i saw a few episodes subbed. Then my view of it changed. The series is awesomely a throwback to the early 80s sentai. The narrator is Toru Ohira, the narrator of Goranger-Dynaman who hadn't narrated a series in years, Bandora is Machiko Soga's most well known role, certainly an awesome performance for her, and her first head bad guy role since Pandora in Spielban, she retired shortly after this. And Takeshi Watabe, who hadn't voiced a sentai villian since Gyodai in changeman, returned voicing the blue ogre Bukkabakku. Also, the DaiZyujin is really a homage to Denjiman's DaiDenJin in both name and appearance. And the theme song- I love the orchestration at the beginning-a full orchestra being used for the first time since Changeman. Plus the whole song is awesomely retro and reminds me of mellow late-80s pop. The filming style reminds me of Dynaman in some ways.

Things you mentioned really don't have much to do with the actual show...like plot or story arcs. Just superficial elements.

Either way...i'll agree that Zyuranger was a good show. It really kicked off the greatness of the 90s for me. You heard me! I don't think Jetman is all that great!!

Watabe did voice a villain after Gyodai -- the awesome Ragon in Turboranger.

Zyuranger's not one of my favorite sentai shows, but I have started to appreciate more in the past few years. To be honest, I thought Gingaman did the whole storybook fantasy (and retro throwback) better.

I don't think Jetman is all that great!!

You may like the fact that Dragonranger [Brai] is played by Shiro Izumi aka Change Pegasus.

I must admit I do enjoy watching Zyurangers, it's a good show. But, I wonder why is it that most of their epsiodes center around childrens? Are they trying to appeal more kid-friendly? Anyways, I thought the show really kicked into gear as soon as Burai/Dragonranger showed up. Man, I miss 90's toku already :disappoin.

Well, Zyuranger was meant to be a bit lighter after Jetman, but I think the biggest reason is probably because Zyuranger's main writer, Noboru Sugimura, said he liked to include kids in his stories. It's something that sticks around for the other shows he did, like Kakuranger and Ohranger. And of course, he even went as far as making a kid a regular hero in Dairanger...
