Zack Snyder to direct "Superman"

According to Zack, Brandon Routh won't be wearing the red and blue tights again. :disappoin

Okay, so you mean Brandon Routh won't return to play Superman.

I liked him. He and Kevin Spacey were the only things I liked about Superman Returns.

Braniac is a complete badass now

Well, they'd better prove it, or in Hollywood's eyes, some computer-clad supervillain will be considered silly and over-the-top, in comparison to the more "plausible" Lex Luthor, who is pretty overused. It's tiresome seeing Superman fighting the same non-powered villain over and over again, whereas he's had villains who are his superpowered equals in the comics (Brainiac, Mxyzptlk, Bizarro, etc.).

And this coming from someone who actually liked Nuclear-Man, and even the creepy computer lady in Superman III (who was supposedly a substitute for Brainiac)!

Yes, that's what I mean. I'm disappointed with Zack's stupid decision. I wish he wouldn't direct the reboot.

I thought Brandon Routh did a great job as Clark Kent/Superman.

Yeah, I think Routh could have been a great Superman if he'd been allowed to play the role fresh. It's not his fault Singer had a boner for the Donner films and decided to spooge it all over the screen. Routh and Spacey were both wasted, IMO.

That said, I can see why they would want a new actor. Bringing back Routh for a real reboot would just be confusing.

It's not only Bryan Singer's fault, but one of the main producers, Jon Peters, who hates Superman passionately, and kept the project in development hell. (Remember, he wanted Tim Burton to direct and Kevin Smith to write; the latter walked out on the project because of Peters' decisions.)

I'm not sure how you can blame Peters for the artistic issues in Superman Returns, though. The budget issues, sure (I believe the reported $200 million+ budget includes all the development that Burton did on the project before he walked, which I never thought was fair)...

But most everything about the movie, from the nostalgic usage of the Brando footage to the doppelganger performances of Routh and Spacey, suggests a dude acting on a very specific vision. It just happened that it wasn't a vision anyone besides Singer particularly wanted to see.

Meh, you could do worse then Snyder. Think of a superman movie made by Brett Ratner!! Now that's something to think about!!
