Wizard Opinions Thus Far?

The first 8 episodes or so I felt were fantastic and I felt where the series was going. Then they introduced the Dragon forms and the show meandered for 20 episodes.

Everything Glamador said in his first post was spot on.

I'd like to add that I'm shocked how underused "the Band" (get it, like a ring. Haruto is the jewel supported by these 4 (5 if you count Nitou) people) has been. Koyomi is integral to Haruto's mission, but after episode 6 she hasn't had much to do.

I am going to stop myself and just say it looks beautiful, but it lacks character. I feel as if I have to force myself to care. Haruto feels flat. That is wrong. This is not 1987-89 or 1977, we should be beyond nearly one-dimensional heroes. Episode 31 showed that ALL HE HAS is being the Wizard, but hopefully Koyomi's parting speech will awaken something in him that helps him be happy with being Souma Haruto and NOT just the Ring-bearing Wizard.

P.S. I love Black and like what I've seen of Black RX (1-13) and think Takeshi Hongo is THE man. However flat they may have been, the show around them made up for it. Flat is ok, if done properly.

Don't really like Wizard. Pretty boring on the same level as Faiz but not as melodramatic as Faiz was; Haruto is also a boring character IMO. Guess that's what happens when the 40th anniversary run is over; they turn characters into bland types. 30 episodes passed by so fast and it seems like there is no story to it. Just Phantoms trying to get into Gates. Me thinks they will rush the end with White Wizard and the inevitable oncoming Female Rider.

4. Slowly get closer to despair as he draws on more and more of his inner Phantom's power with occasional help from the White Wizard in order to protect others.

I really don't think the series has given any evidence of that actually. The dragon initially said that, but Haruto replied that the dragon was his hope, and, ever since Fire Dragon's debut, the Dragon itself hasn't been portrayed as evil or negative towards Haruto at any point. He has posed alongside Haruto and even took a hit for Beast last episode. And now the dragon has been reborn out of Haruto's "heart", rather than despair. So, I don't think the show itself is pushing that idea at all.

.........bored.

I don't like how so much of it takes place in the day time. The twin twist is interesting, but I don't feel much in the way of high stakes and real immediate danger.

And I'm getting sick of each episode being a gorram toy demo for how many different forms that can be spammed.

At the beginning I had been enjoying Wizard for the characters and flashy fights, but as the episodes carried on, I had wondered when anything was going to happen other than the monster of the week (or two weeks if you are being technical). After Phoenix was DBZed, thus the sun claiming another person, it seems to have been stuck in a rut, even with Gremlin's constant giggling and jumping around.

It had taken over 30 episodes until we had gotten Infinity, with little on Wizard's other dragon forms other than Flame Dragon which is disappointing as I myself enjoyed the fight with Water Dragon.

To me, this feels like Kamen Rider Kiva all over again. The premise is there, the characters are enjoyable, but the writing is not done very well.

While I agree with alot of what people are saying but the criticism feels harsh.
Rider shows have always taken this long to reach anything more interesting so the claim of it being bland feels negligible.

The action is great and all the little details kept me intrigued especially with Medusa and Phoenix's back story. The effects are about what I'd expect of any rider show but I liked the fight between Wizard and Phoenix. He essentially sent Phoenix into a living hell for all eternity that's BA. The plot still intrigues me with what Wiseman and the White Wizard are up to especially with Gremlin and Medusa's twin involved now.

Still no series is perfect. The secondary characters feel neglected like in Fourze. Beast feels very bare for character. I didn't like the Dragon forms cause they were so bright but the Infinity form feels much better.

I think there's still alot to wait for with the final 20 ahead before I can officially say whether this was a good series or not. At the very least it's still better than Den-O.
