Why People Still Like Watching Power Rangers

I used to watch it because to the eyes of a seven year old boy, it was the highest form of drama and entertainment.

I now watch it because it's a lot of fun, and for those 30 minutes, I feel like a seven year old again.

Like I was trying to point out in the original post, PR appeals to the human heart. It's like watching a really good old movie television show like The Untoucables(the one from the 40s) The Lone Ranger or Mission Impossible. Shoot, it's the perfect show for boys young or old. As a kid I summed it up like this

-Karate
-Robots
-Aliens
-Lasers
-Monsters
PLUS


-Team work
-Brotherhood
-Honor
-Trust
-Character

And I'm sure hard working folks like Amy Jo Johnson, Sally Martin, Emma Lahana, PJ Lee, Karen Ashley, Erin Cahill and Monica May did their part too.

In theory alot of us watch the show to rekindle ourselves with our inner childs, maybe we haven't grown up in that part of our brains normally, or even help simulate a happy and wonderful childhood we were stripped of at the appropriate time of our lives. That part of the theory would be supported if the person has excessive piles of children's books, toys and videos and don't fit in with other people their age.




I watch it because I still find it somewhat interesting as it was when I was 9. idk when my interest will die.

now im 16 and the pure reason why i watch it is cuz i like it so there arent any real explainations for our strange addictions to PR KR or SS and besides PR was pretty good up until now which sucks a little cause gekiranger was much better than jungle fury

I must say that a proud feeling came over me as I read this thread. I will admit up front, I haven't seen a full season of power rangers since Lightspeed Rescue started, but that was because it became harder for me to watch Power Rangers on tv, due to time and later the channels I could get.

I remember when I first started seeing Power Rangers back in the Mighty Morphin season (season 1) when I was in kindergarten (iirc). After that first episode, I was hooked. As soon as I came home from school, I flipped the tv on to watch the episode of the day. This was my routine every school day until Lightspeed Rescue started (as I said before, time became an issue when I couldn't come home straight after school anymore and slept too late on saturday mornings).

Since I couldn't see the episodes almost everyday it became hard for me to follow the story and get an understanding of the season. That combined with the fact that I didn't have access to the internet at home kept me from getting into the newer seasons. Even though I wasn't able to get into the newer seasons due to these reasons, I still kept the older seasons that I did get to see close to my heart.

When I got internet access, one of the first things I searched for was Power Rangers. I always kept looking up information on the show. I usually focused on the older seasons as this was what I originally saw and understood, but I did read a bit on the newer seasons coming out. Later on when I discovered Youtube, I began to look up clips of the show and then, finally full episodes when available, and yes, mainly the older seasons that I grew up with. I soon discovered Sentai after that and...well, that would make this post even longer:sweat:

I know many friends who grew out of shows that they watched when they were still kids. I have yet to grow out of Power Rangers. The feeling of amazement and joy that I had as a kid still rest with me as I, at 19, still watch the show (on Youtube). Even though I haven't seen a full season since Lightspeed Rescue emerged, I am getting ready to start again. I have seen clips of the newer parts of the show and the special team-up / anniversary episodes, but will now look to see what I can find in full episodes, as I still can't see it on my cable connection. :sweat: And that reminds me, I need to hunt down a copy of Power Rangers: Super Legends for PC in my local town.

I've been watching PR since it started in 1993. For me it was a show that I could watch and forget about my troubles. Sure the acting and the effects aren't Hollywood level good but it's a kid's show. PR has been a part of me since then it got me into Sentai and made me join HJU. So I have to give PR props for making me a fan and joining an awesome fandom.

It's a show that open a door to a world of Toku that I probably wouldn't have known existed. But, I watch it now for the zyu2 footage that wasn't aired in the original Zyuranger show.

My reason why I think older people like watching PR is because it has very complex character drama for a "kiddie" show(I use that term loosely, as i do not think of it as one). You've got the good friendships, the romance, the tough decisions many of the Rangers have to make. It's really not a kiddie show. It's for everyone. Kids look up to them because they're strong, and older guys and gals love them because of their character and willingness to fight till the end.
