Why Final Fantasy XII's Storytelling Hits Harder Than You Think

The storytelling in Final Fantasy XII always gets overshadowed by its more beloved siblings, but honestly, I think it's one of the richest narratives in the series! The political intrigue, the character arcs, it's a whole world brought to life in such a unique way. I love how Vaan starts off as our "protagonist" but the focus shifts to truly show how everyone's story matters. The layered dynamics between characters like Balthier, Ashe, and even Penelo add so much depth. Plus, the way it handles themes of power and freedom feels so relevant even today. Anyone else find themselves appreciating FFXII on this level? What moments or characters really struck you?

The character arcs are interesting, but let's be real, Vaan never really feels like the main character; he's more of a sidekick in his own story. Ashe deserves way more credit as the true protagonist, and honestly, the focus on her struggle for power and identity is what makes the story shine, not Vaan's aimless wandering.
