Who Loves Spyro?

Shogun_Master

Why is every good TV show Cancelled
Well, now that Spyro has, once again, changed hands, my question(s) are posed. Who is a fan of Spyro the Dragon? If so, do you prefer old-school spyro, or the newer legend of spyro? What do you hope for in the next game?

Here's my answers-
1)Yes
2) old school
3) My best idea was to revert back to the original gameplay, but add a few elements of the new- like bing able to use all of spyro to fight (bat enemies back with wings, do flips &/ or beat em with your tail) I would also enjoy it if the game was longer that older ones, but just as difficult- have more than three/ four home worlds & do something unique for boss battles (ex- have a monster coming out of mirrors & throwing bombs at you. Objective- avoid bombs & use them to blow up all the mirrors, forcing the monster out into the open so he can be killed) Then, have spyro earn his power-ups, either he learns them or they activate after he gets so far into the game. Finally, have the bonus level be harder than the ones from one & two, but less complex than the one in three.

That is all. Now it's your turn, whosoever it is that enters this thread!

Technically this would fit better in the "Gamestation Taisen" section. Could a Mod be able to punt it over there?

On the topic itself, can you provide a source or link to this "changing of hands"? I've seen no news articles about such a thing, and as far as I'm aware it's still owned by Activision/Sierra.

And on your questions, it's difficult to say as I've never really played any of the games, though I have found myself interested in the franchise somewhat.

In terms of the story/setting/"style," and possibly Spyro's characterisation, at least, I have to say I have a bit more of a preference for the "Legend trilogy" than the "Original trilogy". Partly due to a liking for the more serious/grandiose, almost Lord of the Rings-esque, mythology and setting, and partly because Spyro's character and the story in itself is a bit more played with a more straight-up "noble-fantasy hero" style/persona instead of the more "nineties, snarky, 'Mascot with Attitude'" sort of style, which the original games were created to cash-in on. That, and Elijah Woods as Spyro, (At least in terms of the Legend version. Not to mention some of the other voice actors in the trilogy, like Gary Oldman for Ignitius and Mark Hamill for Malefor.) just seems a perfect fit for the role. But that's just my thoughts on it.

Oh, no it's Activision- I could have sworn there was someone else between Insomniac & Activision, though...:sly:

Gahhhhh- Misinformation!

...Well, at least someone responded...:redface2:

Vivendi Universal (formerly Universal Interactive), the ones who did the games from 2001-2005, were the owners between Insomniac Games, who did the first three games, and Activision/Sierra Entertainment, who handled the "Legend of Spyro" games to present. This of course doesn't include the developers themselves, of which, especially during the in-between years, there were countless many, but rather the publishers who owned the rights to have the games made.

I was wondering if you had meant there had been a further passing of the torch to another publisher after that. Although it might have been slightly worrying, it would at least have been some sort of news, considering there hasn't been a Spyro game for the last two years or so and the movie plans were scrapped.

Agreed- Spyro is impossible not to like.

I did hear from a random website a little bit of inf about a new Spyro game trying to be closer to the original games, but the info may not be reputable...

Oh, well, I wish I could kick the arses of the douches who changed spyro in the wrong direction. Not saying Legend of Spyro isn't fun- it's just not spyro...
