Which Toku is Better? KR or SS?

Kamen Rider:A masked hero riding on a bike and kills monsters with a kick.

Super Sentai: Five people who fight enlarged monsters with a giant robot.

Sorry about the short description. :P

Overall, I would say Kamen Rider is better. I like it so much more.

BUT

This year as far as Kiva & Go-Onger, in my opinion Go-Onger is better. So Sentai wins for year 2008. & Funny thing is, I wasn't really a sentai fan until Go-Onger.

Kamen Rider FTW!!! Sentai is too much a little based for veiwers younger than viewers of KR menaing KR is based of For example, Ages 5-13, while SS is for Ages 3-11 since well Giant Robots? Nah I don't really think of it as a Teenage series since I stopped watching it since Time Ranger (Half of the series only). I still continued Ultraman for another year and then came on with only KR. Ultraman is sorta 4-12...

ALL OF THIS IS IMO...

I like a Rider show which is basically MOSTLY serious and heavy dramas, while Most of the Sentai shows, are just simply focussing on teamworks and some laughters.

Well haven't seen Sentai in awhile to say it's for laughters, but that's as far as I remember...

He's actually sort of right, looking at a lot of Sentai series. Magiranger and Gekiranger had great drama stories, but even they had a significant comedy element. Others emphasise the comedy or "childish" aspect a lot more, like Go-on and Deka.
Until the more recent series, Kamen Rider usually has a much smaller, but still present, comedy or "childish" element.

That aside, I'd say I prefer Kamen Rider, because out of what I've seen I've had 4/6 good series and 2/2 good separate movies, over 3/5 good sentai series. So by a narrow margin, Kamen Rider (although I'd rank some of the good Sentai series on the same level as the good Rider series)

I like Kamen Rider better for sure, but there are some great Sentai series. I liked Gekiranger a lot, and Dekaranger and most of the older Sentai shows I've seen pieces of have been really good, but I've liked every Rider series I've ever seen (to varying degrees, of course). Go-Onger has definitely been one of my least favorite, it reminds me a lot of Boukenger, both are decent shows, but for me haven't become really exciting until the addition of the extra rangers.

I also think design wise, Kamen Rider pretty much stomps Sentai into the ground.

Ideally at least, there should be some distinction between the two and as such which one is better would basically depend on what you were in the mood for at any given time.

I think Super Sentai is the place for very bold, bombastic and colorful hero stories that showcase the character dynamics between several heroes and ultimately how they work together as a team. This doesn't have to neccessarily mean comedy or that you can't have a more dramatic tone but I think it's somewhat of a lighter touch overall. Their world is not exactly like our own but it's just close enough that we relate to it even though things work a bit differently. It's a place that shows us the power of people working together to help and protect each other is an unstoppable force for good if we just have the courage to believe in it. ..and in ourselves.

Kamen Rider is where you see a world maybe just ever so slightly closer to our own but it's moodier and there is a stronger sense of danger around every corner. The world goes about it's daily business on the surface little realizing that darker forces are manipulating it and monsters could strike from anywhere. .. but against this threat is a hero who chooses the humanity within himself and uses his own power to protect us. He might fight this battle alone or with others. His choice might bring him into conflict with others like or unlike himself. But it is this choice the symbolically seperates the Riders from the monsters..even the ones that have henshin belts. Who's the real monster? The altered human or the person who throws their humanity away for power? Who's the real Rider? The Rider that selflessly protects others or the one who just gets off on having that power and beating something up?

So I guess my point really is that when they are both doing what they do best it's really win/win. Sometimes I'm more in the mood for the vibe sentai has and at other times more with Rider.
