Which series was the turning point for Super Sentai?

I would say Bioman after Yellow Four I's death. From that point on, that was when Super Sentai truly took off.

I agree. Although I enjoyed Gaoranger, I still see it as the point where sentai decided to go so light and cartoonish, it at times teeters on self-parody. Being a 007 fan, I always liken things to that series. So, the way I put it is that Gaoranger was sentai's entry into the Roger Moore years... :laugh:

So how much longer until we get to Sentai's Peirce Brosnan years? Or do we still have Moore and Timothy Dalton years left to go? :laugh:

Timeranger and Magiranger are very good turning points for Super Sentai. Timeranger featured the first complete Super Sentai Daishugo in a series and also first featured the "Aka Ranger V" Super Sentai logo, which can be seen before the opening of sentai shows and in almost all official Super Sentai merchandise. Timeranger is also the "sentai of the future" and the franchise is assured to have a sentai which can always return.

Magiranger showed the Super Sentai genre the union between fantasy and reality and how courage can lead to miracles and great victory. It showed the power of magic against the strongest group of villains ever. Intense drama despite being typical of a fantasy kids show, justice, and love of family are always included. It also featured the youngest and most powerful Red Warrior in Super Sentai history in MagiRed and he's like the Honoo Riki (Red Turbo) of this decade. It is small wonder why Magiranger was "given tribute" by Toei during the 30th anniversary of Super Sentai by means of the casting of Cho Ninja Tai Inazuma (Magiranger lead actors got the lead roles plus the "Magical TV" in the show), and obvious Magiranger references in Boukenger vs Super Sentai, including some of the lines in the lyrics of its ending theme Densetsu. Densetsu itself can be an adjective for Magiranger, the legendary sentai. The great Boukenger team is surely fortunate to have a direct predecessor like Magiranger. Timeranger was the best, until Magiranger came along.:thumbs:

I have to agree, but it's a crying shame that there wasn't an actual team-up between Boukenger and Magiranger, no instead we had Magis Yellow & Shine for the veteran roster. I also thought Gaoranger was also a turning point for the Super Sentai because of the awesome usage of CGI for the Power Animals. Nuff said...

Sentai needs to hit Dalton years! Bring the series back to the ground and restore its credibility. :laugh: Granted, it will be a couple of shows that flop with the main audience, but go on to be fan favorites.

I agree with you and yet... no one believes that it's the start of 21st century sentai. only i believe it was. also they had no teamup with gaoranger in 2002. what a shame, but i still am proud for that show!
