Which old school PR Writer do you miss the most?

Actually, I don't understand your reasoning at all. The series is doing better (which, by the way, it's not; only the merchandise really keeps going strong), so the times have changed? Disney is mainstreaming the show to the point of actually killing anything unique it has to offer. Do you realize that even today, even after other Toku adaptations, PR is still the only show on-air of its kind? And even if it's no longer a trend, it has to offer based on that aspect; offer something that isn't focused exclusively on selling toys? And it's not doing that; it's just one piece from the huge pile of crap that exist for little kids that have to buy toys in the Holiday season.

The only thing the show has to change, concerning 'the times' is leave the '90s cheese factor and adjust in the '00s logic. It doesn't have to be a stale, 20-minute-long toy commercial.

And I hate to break it to you but this is the entertainment BUSINESS after all. There is a bottom line that MUST be and WILL BE addressed above ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING ELS, that bottom line takes precedence each and EVERY time for every form of entertainment.

The creative and production team(s) have a mandate to make the most popularly and profitable product possible. That's their job, if they don't do it, they get canned. And no matter WHO you stick in that spot be it Lynn, Amed or whomever, they too will have to obey THAT mandate and that rule or they will be FIRED.

Toei does the exact same thing which is why the writer for Hibiki got canned midway thru the series.

Now is this fair? Depending on what point of view you have, maybe or maybe not. The rules however are set in stone for both Toei and Disney that they dictate to their employees.

This is the point Kalish was trying to get across to people at Youmacon and it's what the vast majority of his detractors hate about him and that is he bluntly told them that these are the rules of the game and that their opinions and views as fans, while they are entitled to them and very nice, don't mean squat to the various important people.

Educational... and completely beyond the point. I know how the business works and I'm not a 10-year-old that just joined the fandom. I've been around long enough to know all of these lovely little details. The problem doesn't lie with the creative team alone; it lies with the entire production. It starts from Disney's complete disregard of the show and their focus on the merchandise and moves to the creative team. And, yes, the creative team shares a fair deal of blame for mainstreaming the show like that.

But that still does not counter my point that the show has absolutely nothing to offer anymore. It doesn't counter my point that instead of improving, the show is becoming a caricature of what it used to be, or what it could be. It doesn't counter my point that you can sell a whole lot of toys, without having to completely dump all over the poor thing.

seriously you guys need to accept the fact that things change and you have to learn how to deal instead of complaining about it all the time :redface2:

yeah i agree with you, those old school writers were awesome, especially the ones responsible for In Space to Wild Force but like it or not things change, learn to deal with the changes or at least accept them, people start to get sick of the same complaints after a while
