What would you do...

If some of the major Toku shows went to sleep for a few years.
Like what happened before.
Ultraman 80 ended and another show didn't happen till Tiga like 15 years later.
Or Kamen Rider with it's 11 year gap between RX and Kuuga.
I don't think Sentai has ever done that but still.

I don't see it happening now but in a few years, who knows.

If one Toku goes to sleep, another Toku take it's place. There will always be something to watch.
Kamen Rider took a long break, but in exchange, we got all the awsome Metal Hero shows.

That's happened to PR. I would just watch older shows in the meantime. Thing is of the uncertain time a series takes a break.

Metal Hero hasn't returned to TV for 11 years, so I doubt any toku shows can come back with a BIG BANG!

EDIT: I would watch older toku shows in the meantime once they're returning sometime in the future. I can never get tired of those toku shows.

Hmmm. Well, I'd probably make up for it by getting into other Toku shows I'd never tried before, or catch up on stuff I missed and never got the chance to see.

Watch something else. If the big franchises were suddenly out of commission, then you'd have tons of companies rushing out their own original series to try and fill the void. It could be a pretty fun few years until things settled down, honestly.

The thing about the "gaps" is that while there's no new series on TV, that only matters if TV is all you follow. Otherwise the big franchises live on in other ways. Ultraman had its marketing renaissance in the 80's, despite there being no show. But it was kept in the public eye so that by the time Tiga came on, everyone was primed and ready (and let's not forget the overseas shows. Powered got some serious love in Japan when it was new.) Kamen Rider lived on throughout on the 90's in nearly every form but TV. You could write a book on SD Riders alone, which began in the early 90's and lasted in some forms right up through into Kuuga. Most people don't even know there was SD Riders beyond the animated thing, but there are a ton of comics, games, merchandising... it's nearly a franchise itself.

Something tells me that if Kamen Rider ended (unlikely as it is now) we'd still get the occasional movie, everything would get Blu-Ray releases if they hadn't already, Bandai would still be pumping stuff out, they'd still be in the kiddie magazines, etc.
