What movies are you watching? 2024 Edition

EileenCruz · May 31, 2024

Sadly, the last film I watched in the theaters was Madame Web. That was definitely a movie you should watch with the expectation that not much will make sense.

I recently watched Iron Claw on Max. That was very good, but obviously sad. I think that sometimes people don't give Efron enough credit for his acting chops.

What movies have you watched recently and why would someone else want to see them?

Summer is almost here. What are you going to see in the theaters and what are you going to wait for on streaming services?

Wolverine and Deadpool, I hate the Bryan Singer X-men movies and I hate how over utilized Wolverine was on those movies but I want Logan to finally wear his yellow and blue outfit

None of these are new, but if you haven't seen any of these (or even if you have) I would recommend any of the three Power Rangers movies.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995)
Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997)
Power Rangers (2017)

MMPR:TM is non-canon, but it is a very good and exciting movie based on the series. It features a different villian (Ivan Ooze), but it still has the regular villains from the show as well. It of course has the same power rangers from the show.

T: APRM is canon, and the movie is like a prequel to the Power Rangers Turbo season. It features the rangers and villains from the show, and it also has a few former rangers return.

The newer Power Rangers movie from 2017 is like a remake of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series. It features characters with the same names as the original rangers, but the actors are of course different and the storyline is intended for a slightly older audience.

I would recommend all three of these movies.

I am 100% ready for this movie. I'm hoping for a really inappropriate nostalgia trip. I definitely think there have been better takes on Marvel stories since the Singer X-men films. But, I do love the actors that were in those films. I'm looking forward to seeing them suit up again.

Agreed on Logan and the yellow and blue uniform.

Nice. Who is your favorite Ranger?

Exhuma is on my watchlist. It's strange. I don't like American horror but I'm OK with Korean horror films.

Probably Tommy Oliver. He was in so many of the seasons, and he was always a great Power Ranger. I really liked Billy Cranston a lot too. Billy was actually in the series the longest overall period of time of any ranger, since he was in the very first episode in 1993 and was also in the very last (most current) episode this past September.

I can think of three off the top of my head. Train to Busan, The Host. I didn't go in to watching #Alive thinking that I'd like it. Usually, the inclusion of modern electronic devices, social networks, etc. is too gimmicky for me. But I thought they did a really good job with #Alive. It exceeded my expectations by quite a bit.

I also rewatched the '89 Batman movie with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. It still holds up every time.

Train to Busan and #Alive have been on my watch lists for the longest time. I never heard of The Host. But since you mentioned it, I might add this one too.
