I'm a huge fan of practical effects in movies and am always on the lookout for films that showcase them well. While classics like "Jurassic Park" and "The Thing" are obvious choices, I'm curious about more recent films that have used practical effects to great effect. What are some standout examples from the last decade that I shouldn't miss?

One film that really impressed me with its practical effects is "Mad Max: Fury Road." The attention to detail in the stunts and sets is insane, and it really enhances the overall visceral experience of the film. That highway chase scene is just mind-blowing, and you can feel the impact of every explosion because it's all real. However, I found that some of the CGI-enhanced sequences felt a bit over the top; they took away from the grit and realism that the practical effects initially established. Still, the balance they achieved with practical effects in a post-apocalyptic setting is something that deserves recognition.
