I've always been fascinated by practical effects in movies, especially how they can create such immersive experiences. What are some films you think really shine in this area? Practical effects really make a film stand out, and there are so many great examples! One that comes to mind is "Mad Max: Fury Road." The way they used real cars and stunts for those insane chase scenes is just mind-blowing. The practical explosions and the performers hanging off the vehicles really pull you into that chaotic world.

Another classic is "The Thing." The creature effects by Rob Bottin are legendary, every transformation and grotesque feature was done practically, and it holds up so well. It's a masterclass in building tension with tangible effects instead of relying on CGI.
