Which Films Offer the Best Use of Practical Effects for Horror?

[Justin J]

I'm a huge horror fan, and I'd love to explore films that not only deliver scares but also showcase incredible practical effects. While I know classics like "The Thing" are often discussed, I'm looking for modern examples that really stand out. What recent horror films do you think do an exceptional job with practical effects?

"Talk to Me" is a fantastic modern example of practical effects in horror. From what I've seen in the trailers, the use of physical props and makeup to create the eerie atmosphere feels so refreshing compared to CGI-heavy films. I'm also excited to see how the filmmakers blend those practical effects with the emotional intensity of the characters.

Another one to check out this month is "The Black Phone." The combination of chilling practical effects with solid performances really pulls you into the horror without relying solely on digital tricks. What are some specific scenes or effects you're hoping to see in these films?
