What exactly is wrong with TV-Nihon subs?

That said, while I think there is a lot of truth in the drift angle, you can't deny that the Japanese also use words from the English language as intended, but as a cooler sounding alternative to their own language.

You can't believe everything you see in anime in toku. I'm pretty sure the average Japanese person doesn't employ tons of English words, they tend to stick to their own language.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there aren't ANY English words that the average Japanese person uses, but the number of words or phrases they commonly use is probably much lower and much harder to miss use. If you were to tell me they only use the English words for Hello, Goodbye, or something simple like that, I'd believe it. In America, especially in the southern states, it's quite common place to know some equally simple Spanish words since Mexico is our neighbor. But that doesn't mean we use it like a second language, nor do we expect any random American to know a ton of random Spanish words.

And maybe I'm wrong, but I believe it's the same with Japan. Anime, Toku, and maybe even Manga writers are always looking up new foreign words they can have their characters say just to throw their audience for a loop, maybe make them curious to find out what the word means. Many companies do it too, just to seem hip and mysterious. But the more they use English, the more they try to make complete sentences and paragraphs, the more their limited understanding begins to show. Learning English in Japan is about as required as learning Spanish is in America, and even if they are truly required to take a year or two of it, it's going to take a lot more then that to become truly fluent in the language.

Actually I think you'd be surprised how much some Japanese love our language. My mother used to teach English to exchange students from Japan for many years, while at the same time hosting one of them in our home whenever she was teaching a group. They seemed to hold out culture and language in much the same high regard as your average weeaboo holds Japan's, although those students differed slightly in that they did something with that sentiment, and decided to actually learn our language and visit out country. I also got the feeling that there were those who never left Japan and, instead of taking the advantage to learn something, kept on using the few English words they knew in an effort to sound cool.

Before this goes on any further: Engrish is bad. There's no point justifying bad translations because Engrish exists.

Sorry for little offtopic, i have small question regarding fansubs:
Could someone please explain it to me? One guy said, that School Rumble fansub is better than official subs, becasue they include Japanese jokes, and explain them, instead of skipping them, like in official subs. I happen to just bought original boxset, and, according to what he said, here is one example of "skipped joke" Tenma checked her horoscope, and list all things that happen in morning

In official release, Tenma sister just say after that, "Last one is unlucky"
But in fansub, she say "It`s dangerous" I cannot really see any missing joke here, unless it happen in rest episodes?
