I have to say one thing about Magiranger. It's cute. The target audience isn't the adults, it's for small kids. My four-year-old son LOVES Magiranger and I enjoy typesetting it for my older children to read (they get a less 'colorful' version then what we release at TVN).

Magiranger is cute, so is Dekaranger and while Power Rangers maybe based off of Sentai, they are different stories. Personally, I hate Power Rangers since it's really campy (especially if I've seen the Japanese version of the series they're basing it off such as SPD vs Deka). Given the choice between PR & Sentai, my kids pick Sentai because it's more fun.

If you enjoy Power Rangers, that's great. If you enjoy Sentai, that's great. If you like both, that's great too BECAUSE we are individuals with different tastes and what one person likes another may not. It doesn't make you right or wrong, it makes you, you.

Since when is Sentai meant for older people? It's made for children, and if an adult just so happens to like it, then great, if not...kid's tastes change for the years and what you liked as a kid might not be what Japanese kids today like.

Magiranger is an okay sentai, not great, but not as bad as people make it out to be. Though it probably will be remembered for one thing, and that's for being the first sentai to have the rangers change into mechs.

I totally agree with your kids there. To each his own views, but I as well prefer by a long shot sentai. Actually, if I've seen 5 PR episodes in my whole life, it would be a lot.

But the thing is that Magi just doesn't cut it for me compared to some other sentai series. I miss the seriousness of series like Liveman (just to give one example). I can handle one silly/funny episode once in a while, but this is just overkill here. Magi is too over-the-top cute for me to enjoy it. It has even become obnoxious to the point that I skip episodes.
Fortunately, Toho was there to save the day with Justiriser, or else I wouldn't have had any sentai-ish series to enjoy this year (except DVD's of older series).

But if others enjoy it, by all means watch the series and keep enjoying! :198:

I didn't say sentai was meant for older people, I said "accessible" and the main reason for that is because it's not (usually) so vomit-inducingly corny and campy as PR. Maybe it's a language thing, maybe PR just really does suck that bad, but they tend to **** something up about it every new season and sentai has been going downhill since the new millennium.

And yeah, there's original about Magiranger, except for the whole magic concept which doesn't even work well anyway. They can get away with it though because I figure at this point that the children of Japan will watch anything with colorful costumes and CGI in it. Mystic Kni...er... Force might be the second time ever that the PR series is better than the original sentai, Wild Force being the first.

Yeah it`s a powerful quote thats quite true. And no matter how much a die hard life long Rangerfan like me might want to argue it`s worthfulness into the ground...I won`t out of respect.
