Wanting my hair to look like this...

I'm so tired of my hair. It's dull and boring. I had it going good for a while with gel but got fed up with it. Since I'm Asian(well really, Filipino to be specific), I really want to go for this type of look:

Any suggestions on approaching this look?

Also, I'm waiting for my hair to get longer. It's current length is around an inch.

Wow. Looks good. Don't know if the barber I go to can do all of that. Don't think she had anyone wanting "Asian" hair before.

Also, don't go to your "barber". I'd strongly recommend going to an Asian hair salon as it's sort of their specialty. Even if you didn't want an Asian hairstyle, you'd probably walk out with one if you went there. :laugh:

Ask if they have Japanese hairstyle books (99.99% they do) rather than finding some pic on the Internet. A nice, clear pic is best so it's preferred if you can choose one that you like best out of those magazines. Pics are most important. Afterall, pictures = 1000 words.

They'll basically work their magic and give you what you want. But once their job is done, the hard part begins... you will need to style it every morning. Be equipped with a hair straightener, styling clay (don't use gel!), hair spray, and time to do your hair every morning.

It takes about 15 minutes to do my hair every morning so I don't bother if I'm not going out b/c I'm lazy.

Damn. Gonna have trouble finding an Asian Hair Salon. As far as I'm concerned, there is not one in my town. Gotta find one in the next city.

In that case, maybe you should just ask your barber to thin or layer you hair, then you take care of the rest yourself. Though I'm not sure at all if that'd work well or not. :disappoin

But I can say for sure, hair straightener and styling clay are definitely your best friends if you want this kind of hair -- and hairspray too. Perhaps you should experiment with these things and see if you can work out anything with your current hair. Afterall, you've got quite a long way to go if your hair length is currently only 1 inch. I'd say at least 3-4 inch to allow your stylist maximum flexibility when the time comes.
