Virtua Fighter Direct: SEGA’s Big Tribute to the Father of 3D Fighting Games SEGA recently released Virtua Fighter Direct, a heartfelt celebration of their iconic fighting game series, Virtua Fighter. As the first-ever 3D-animated fighting game, Virtua Fighter revolutionized the genre and dominated arcades during its heyday. This year marks the franchise’s impressive 30th anniversary, further emphasizing its legacy as a pioneer in the fighting game world. Despite its influential history, the series has struggled to maintain relevance in recent years, particularly with the rise of competitors like Tekken. Now, after the series’ apparent conclusion with Virtua Fighter V, SEGA is gearing up for a major revival. The revival began with the release of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., an enhanced version of the fifth installment designed for modern consoles. Featuring improved graphics, refined gameplay, and rollback netcode for smoother online play, this updated edition serves as both a nostalgic callback and a preparation for the series’ next evolution. The New Virtua Fighter Project During the presentation, SEGA also unveiled an all-new Virtua Fighter game. While details remain scarce, the trailer showcased Akira, the series’ longtime protagonist, in a bold new redesign. Akira now sports a fedora, breaking away […]

Man, seeing Virtua Fighter Direct brought back some memories. Remember when VF was THE fighting game back in the day? Hope this new one can recapture that magic for a whole new generation of players.

This new Virtua Fighter trailer is inspiring! Love that they're staying true to the 3D fighting roots while pushing the graphics. Wonder what kind of engine they're using. Hopefully, this reignites interest in 3D fighters and inspires a wave of new innovations in the genre.

"Most innovative fighting game"? Sega saying a lot here. Virtua Fighter's always been great, but it needs more than just a graphical facelift to compete with Tekken. Gotta see some real gameplay changes and a bigger roster to grab my attention.

Holy smokes, the graphics in that new trailer look insane! Can't wait to see how the game runs on my new rig. I'm really curious about what kind of performance improvements they've made with this new engine.

VF5 R.E.V.O.? More like VF5: Repetitive, Erratic, Very Overrated. Tekken 8 is where it's at, baby! Real fighting, not some stiff, slow-paced anime cosplay simulator. Harada-sama knows how to make a real fighting game. VF is dead, get over it

A new Virtua Fighter is a huge opportunity to build a strong community. I can't wait to see what kind of fan events and tournaments they'll organize. We need to get the word out on social media and create some hype.

Finally, SEGA's doing something with Virtua Fighter! I'm glad they're keeping the spirit of the old games alive with VF5 R.E.V.O., but the new project teaser? I'm curious but not sold. Akira's new hat is cute, but what about the rest of the crew? And the mention of new mechanics is too vague. I hope they're not just banking on nostalgia but are actually bringing something new to challenge Tekken.

I appreciate SEGA's attempt to revive Virtua Fighter. The rollback netcode in VF5 R.E.V.O. is a smart move for online play, but the new project needs more than just a visual update. The gameplay needs to evolve; perhaps integrating some indie game mechanics could shake things up. I'm hopeful they'll bring back the depth VF was known for, not just a shiny new coat.

I'm excited about this, honestly. VF has been dormant for too long, and this revival could be what the scene needs. But, they've got to do more than just update the visuals. The trailer hints at something new with Akira, but we need details on gameplay, mechanics, and especially the roster. VF has always had a unique feel, and I hope they don't lose that in trying to compete with the likes of Tekken.
