I mean, directors like Satoshi Kon changed the game with his unique storytelling in works like "Perfect Blue" and "Paprika," but I feel like he doesn't get the credit he deserves in casual conversations.

Also, what about someone like Masaaki Yuasa? His work on "Ping Pong the Animation" and "Devilman Crybaby" is so visually striking and unconventional compared to mainstream fare. I feel like people often overlook his contributions to how anime can explore deeper themes in such imaginative ways.
