1. How far in advance are eps filmed?
2. How far in advance are the written where bad plotholes and horrible rewrites can occur?
3. Is every explosion CGI now, or do they still destroy the Earth like they used to?
1. The filming is ahead of the airing by about two months. Filming for Shinkenger should have already ended. If it hasn't, it's because a good number of team came down with the flu a while back. Generally speaking, sentai is done filming with everything by January (ADR may take a little longer, but I believe the actors do that as part of the work week.)
2. Can you list an example? Because right now you're just sounding ignorant. As I say way too often, there is a difference between a plot hole, and a hole in the story, the second of which, people mix up for being a plot hole.
There is some time to do re-writes on Sentai, but keep in mind that it is a tv show, not a movie. If you have ever tried to write a tv show, and split the writing duties, like its done professionally, you will quickly figure out that it is very hard to keep continuity in check.
Sentai does a very good job of that, but it is a fast paced, kids show, and as such, you don't need to know everything, if it's not important to the plot. (In truth, you really don't need all that info in any tv show, it's just background story.)
3. Only a scant few of the explosions are cgi. Toei likes keeping the effects basic, as it has become a sort of tradition. If the effects are cgi, it probably means that practical effects would not have worked. (Sentai still uses jump cuts for explosions, though not as much anymore. Kamen Rider has given up on that completely.)
For instance, if you're going to send a monster into the sky, and then have him explode, you can't have that be a practical effect, because it's too dangerous.
If the monster explodes on the ground, then you can safely set charges.
