I'm a little bit cautious. The robot looks more like a robotic skeleton than a real Transformer. Hopefully, when the real trailers come out, I may be convinced to see it.

Well if they are following Beast Wars sources, the skeleton may be the protoform of an autobot or decepticon.

I don't see why they can't use Cybertronian modes before arriving on Earth and adapting to our veichles, as displayed in the original series and the "War Within" comics.

Overall the trailer to the movie seems excellent and I am soooo looking forward to next year with both this movie and Spider-Man 3.....Oh speaking of Transformers I found this pic online so enjoy:

To clarify further:

The original Transformers toy line was an Americanization of a Takara toy line, Diaclone, mixed in with a few other Takara toy lines that I'm forgetting the names of (since it's late and all); the entirety of the first two seasons and the movie were American-produced, as was most of the third season. The "fourth season" -- really, just a three-parter, "Rebirth" -- was the last bit of American-made TF we got until Beast Wars (which was technically made in Canada, but it was all provoked by Hasbro rather than Takara, so I'll count it as American); in Japan, rather than "Rebirth," they got Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory, and other stuff, too, for years after they stopped running it here.

Lately, Japan runs a year or so ahead of the US on toy lines and shows; that's been true since Car Robots up through the current lines. Between now and next year we're getting a few nifty things, but mostly just to hold us over and keep the brand present for the movie.

and to clarify further as of Transformers Armada, Takara and Hasbro have literally transformed and merged into a TF producing megaforce.

Though Japan is running ahead a bit still.
