In press materials it was hinted that she would be that character's descendant, but I wonder if anything will actually happen with that angle in the series?

It wouldn't surprise me since the character that Eve (Gwen) played in Doctor Who was named, Gwyneth.

The first screening of the final two episodes of Torchwood; Captain Jack Harkness and End of Days are now going to be shown as a two-parter on New Year's Day instead of New Year's Eve on BBC Three in the UK!:anime:

That finale was awesome. Gotta love it everytime Jack gets it on...

[hide]Interesting to note that Jack's name is only an assumed one, and the fact his namesake was gay too and he held off as long as he could was good stuff, looks like sometimes he can get his cake and eat it. Ianto and Owen's confrontation over opening the Rift was gripping, and pretty much defines much of their character developments over the season.

Commiting all of those cardinal sins, then tempted into opening the rift to revive and undo the deaths and what they had lost, Owen shooting Jack mutliple times was fairly graphic, Gwen finally snapping over the horrors she had seen, punching out Jack when he mentioned her affair to try and snap her out of her desperate selfishness to regain her dead husbund, and hey, we've got a new villain and a potential recurring nemesis.

The battle between Jack and Abbadon actually made a fight that did'nt involve trading any blows absolutley beleivable, Jack "dying" and staying dead for days, then recovering and forgiving his team screamed of Religious undertones, and of course after he forgives those who betrayed him, he's taken to He...errr...taken through the space/time vortex by The Doctor, his questions hopefully ready to be answered, it leads perfectly into his apperances next season[/hide]

Ok, I think I'm more then half way done with ep 12 and all I can say is, [hide] I'm embarassed! Seriously one particular scene made me blush because I felt as if I was watching something very intimate between two people who fell in love at first sight. I could careless that it was a gay scene (hell I stomached the lesbian romp of Tosh) but it was just so personal for Jack and Jack.[/hide]

Ok, finished watching it (ep 13) and I must say, I loved it. See now THAT episode came close to being something ala Doctor Who. [hide]I loved hearing the Tardis and knowing that Jack went with him. I wonder how Jack will react to THIS Doctor since the one he knew, "died"... Unless the regenerated Doctor went back into the future at some point to retrive Jack but that would make no sense since it's come off that as Jack not seeing the Doctor since Satellite Five/GameStation.[/hide]

I can't wait for Doctor Who and seeing Jack back there. Any word on if THAT Jack will be back to his happy, carefree self that he was as a con man or will he still be the broody, moody man he's become since becoming "immortal"?

I've actually been quite disappointed with Torchwood, it's waaay too flamboyant, and the team screws up waaay too much. The few eps I have enjoyed are the ones Mikazuki has found boring. Although 12 was good, 13 was absolutely horrendous. Giant biblical creature, no thx plz. As if the whole satan thing in Doctor Who wasn't bad enough. Myself and my friend Wes constantly crack jokes about the show like [HIDE]how Gwen would be a better character with a hole in her head.

And about Toshiko's tryst with the heart eating escaped convict alien.[/HIDE]

"The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit" are two of the greatest episodes of the series ever.

Quite frankly, the fact these characters are tremendously flawed and screw up make this series appealing to a large degree, the finale was no exception, with all of them, even Gwen, finally snapping over the course of their expeirances this season and falling into temptation.

I'll take this over **** like Lost anyday.

Sorry to bump this, as series two isn't set to start for quite some time, but I heard rumor on BBC America's Doctor Who forum that Torchwood will make it's US debut on BBC America later this year (in the fall) as part of "Supernatural Saturdays." No doubt following series two of Doctor Who.

I hope it's true. The Admin of the forum hasn't exactly confirmed it, but he hasn't denied it either by delete/editing the posts as he's been apt to with posts labeled as "rumor and speculation."

I doubt it due to the fact that it has a good deal of sexual content that can't be really edited out. Then again BBC America does show Footballers Wives....
