Top 5 Super Sentai Opening theme songs

#1 Samurai Sentai Shinkenger OP-This track by Psychic Lover is one of my favorites from them. So fast paced with the drums blasting in the background. Catchy chorus too.

#2 Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger OP-I get the sense of adventure whenever I listen to this track. The "Let's go" part of the chorus might sound plain, but I find myself liking it.

#3 Tensou Sentai Goseiger OP-Not a huge fan of this show but for some reason, I find this track very cool. The lyrics are good and I find myself humming the chorus at times.

#4 Mahou Sentai Magiranger OP-I remember humming this track in my head back in 2005. I like the lyrics too especially when they say each Sentai member's powers.

#5 Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger OP-Awesome track. Great lyrics and awesome chorus! Emergency!!!

Personally, I'd have to go...

1. Timeranger - Just so haunting and different than most, if not all, the other sentai openings.

2. Kakuranger - I just love this theme. It's so catchy and chill.

3. Turboranger - Such a power 80s sound to it. It's got a badass chorus and is just generally kickass.

4. Dekaranger - No explanation really needed. Just a rockin' theme.

5. Flashman - Just unf. In my opinion this was the first great, extravagant theme in sentai. Crash! Crash! Crash! Crash!

1. Go-Busters: Catchy enough for pop sensibilities while being a full on rock song.

2. Magiranger: The correct mix of rock and wind instruments.

3. Gekiranger: Watching the opening credits with this just takes this to another level.

4. Shinkenger: Catchy as hell lol

5. Dekaranger: Just a fun song all around.

Of course, I must preface this by saying that this is my top 5 of the shows I've seen.

1. Shinkenger. A great blending of ancient and modern. Kind of a microcosm of Japan itself.

2. Boukenger. It just tastes like the theme song for a superhero show. I actually like it better than the show.

3. Dekaranger. Good rhythm and it works as a "Get you psyched up" song.

4. Gobusters. Up beat and catchy. Good song for a post 3/11 show.

5. Dairanger. Because it WILL NOT LEAVE MY BRAIN!!!!!!!!

Much like RyuSensei, this list is heavily influenced by which shows I've watched so far. There are ones like Kakuranger, Gaoranger, or Gekiranger that seem very catchy, but don't stick in my head in the same way simply because I haven't heard them about 50 times at the start of episodes.

I couldn't come up with an order of favourites that lasted more than a few seconds, so I'm simply naming them from newest to oldest.

1. Akibaranger: I hesitate to put such a recent one in my list, as I often find I can't judge a song properly until I go back after having not heard it for a while. But it must have taken me an hour to get through each episode just because I'd watch the opening over and over, so it's definately doing something very, very right.

2. Shinkenger: I freely admit I could just be biased because this was the theme to the first sentai show I watched. But when they played it for their return in the 'vs Goseiger' movie, and in their tribute episode during Gokaiger, I was bouncing up and down from the first "chan chan bara".

3. Boukenger: The song has the incredible ability to make me feel like I'm hurtling into a great adventure. Which is exactly the frame of mind you want to be in for this series. GO! GO! READY GO!

4. Dekaranger: Possibly the greatest rock song to come out of sentai? Impossible not to love that riff.

5. Dairanger: TENSHIN DAAA! Woah-oh-oh-oh! Some songs have catchy parts. The Dairanger theme is a whole bunch of them stuck together. Ryu Ranger! Shishi Ranger! Tenma, Qilin, Ho-Oh Ranger!

A few honorable mentions have to go to Changeman, Hurricaneger, and Gokaiger's themes, which would without doubt be in my top ten.

Other than being sung by the great Akira Kushida, this song is just such a great mix of powerful lyrics and a heroic tune that always got you pumped for every episode.
Considering how important the sun is in Japanese myths and history, this song does not only represent a very cool Sentai team, but also the Japanese people as the "warriors of the sun"

2: Denjiman

Perhaps one of the most catchy showa themes. I have always had a soft spot for those disco themes :anime:

3: Kakuranger

It is just so unique and I love the combination of early 90's pop and the traditional instruments.
I actually recommend looking up the instrumental version of this theme. It is extremely good :thumbs:

I love vocal work in this one, especially from the backup singers, and it is perhaps the most heroic Sentai theme of them all.
Perfect for a Rescue-themed show.

this is up with the timeranger level of epicness, but in this case it is one of the best sentai themes in a long time (i didn't find gokaiger that impressive). it also reminds me of gogov as well with the type of heroic level to it

it is me or do i think this stands against the test of time?, this is an old sentai around the time they were still the "man" instead of "ranger". and i think it holds up to recent themes

this blew boukenger out of the water completely. going into this series was really odd since they had no belts for one thing. so this series had alot of firsts, and this kickass theme fits it well
