Top 5 Best Rider suits!

1. Kiva - Say what you will about the series, but I think it had some gorgeous designs going for it. As Hibiki ended, I was a little bummed that the ancient style look was going away in favor of a more tech and armored look, but I really liked the Kabuto suits. As Kabuto ended, I thought how awesome it would be to have a suit that could blend the ancient armor aesthetic with something that looks subtlety futuristic. Kiva eventually came along! It has a nice shade of red that isn't overly bright and seems to represent its theme really nicely. I also love the asymmetric look going on in the legs.

2. Eiki - Though it is basically the same design as a lot of the other Oni Riders, the color makes it stand out to me. Aqua and brown is one of those color combinations you don't see often on heroes designs, but they really do compliment each other quite nicely. It's a shame it wasn't used in more than just two episodes because it is an absolutely beautiful suit design.

3. Hibiki - Yes! You knew this was going to be on one of my favorite lists. It started this radical design aesthetic while somehow managing to keep some of the same basic principles of the previous Heisei suit designs. I love cool color hues, especially with the chroma material that they used, and doubly so in the early episodes when it didn't seem like a suit, but an actual skin thanks to the filming techniques.

4. X - Definitely my favorite Shouwa suit and one of my favorite suits in general. Now I don't know too much about what he looked like in the planning stages, but I think they went with the right choice in the long run. He goes with a color scheme that you don't think would work well for a hero design, but he manages to pull it off. I think the "X" design of the chest guard instantly calls attention of the eye and draws it downwards to the belt and that makes for a great design.

5. ZO - I think it was the first attempt at moving the design of the suits to a different place and it does so nicely while still feeling totally like a Kamen Rider. The suit is one cohesive piece in terms of look and I love it when something looks like a single piece rather than various bits and bobs. The color is also a real winner for me, it's a nice solid green that isn't overly bright and strikes a balance between fantastical and cool to me.

Runner-ups: Kamen Rider 1 (Old), Decade Complete, IXA, Saga, Rey, ZX, Taiga (like the only Ryuki suit I like), Super-1, Sasword, Drake, Kabuto

1. Rider 1 & 2: As I've said before, the 'new' silver & red & striped versions to me ARE Kamen Rider, but the earlier suits are cool too. Color schemes aside though, they are basically perfect in every way: great belts, great helmet designs, just the right amount of armoring and slimness. They're the oldest and the simplest, but they're still the best. Every Kamen Rider designer should look to these guys first, then work from there. And no I will not pick between the two.

2. Skyrider: An utterly fantastic costume with the best helmet design in all of Kamen Rider. Like the Double Riders, I like the "New" version the best, though I've got a soft spot for the older darker green/brown one. What the new one brings though is that more leathery material used on the suit (particularly the arms) that just looks sleek as hell. Top it off with a great color scheme and the black gloves & boots (which are a reminder of his Neoshocker origins, as many of their monsters had those too) plus one of the best belts ever, and you've got a winner.

3. X: Went through a ton of changes, but I like what we got the best. At one point X would have had a lighter body suit with light blue gloves and red boots. At another, a silvery foil-looking body suit. What we ultimately got was the rather drab grey, black and red, but I think this works. Coming off of the more colorful V3, X-Rider instantly sets himself apart. It provides a nice contrast to Apollo Geist and actually reflects their mindsets (I dunno how intentional that was, but knowing Ishinomori's stuff I wouldn't put it past him.)
He has a great belt, a great mask (always liked the Perfecter) and that great scarf. Looks great in a team along with...

4. Amazon: Proving that Kamen Rider could go beyond the insectoid look and still work. Awesome body suit with the red lines that make drawing him a pain in the ass, but I wouldn't have it any other way (I've had like two decades to try, anyway.) Great helmet, great color scheme, and I love his belt.

5. V3/Riderman: I put them together because I like them equally, but I think they just look good together too. Every time V3 shows up, Riderman should never be too far behind. V3 is classic, taking bits of Rider 1 & 2 but at the same time bringing a lot new to the table. Riderman I like just for how unique it is. I might be in the minority here, but I think covering up his mouth is just about the worst thing you could do; it basically defeats the entire purpose of what the character is supposed to be about. Those arms rock too. Great colors all around.

Runners-up, in order: Stronger, Supes, ZX, Tackle, Agito (Ground), Kuuga (Mighty), Femme, Blade

I would like to know what suits are your least favourite

1) Amazon I am not exactly sure what attracts me to this design, maybe because it's different and hasn't really been done again, but for some reason, this has grown to be my favorite suit design, and I'm still waiting for Bandai to produce a Figuart of him 8I
2) Black RX His neck thing might hinder some movement, but I still think it's pretty awesome.
3) Decade Unpopular maybe, but I do think it's a really cool design when you come down to it, even if the Ultimate form is...weird. I still maintain that DiEND rocks the "Cards on my body" look better than Decade
4) FangJoker I love W, but this form takes the cake for me. I think it might be the simple Black and White, combined with some of the "wild and violent" elements brought into it that bring out Fang's initial personality.
5) Kuuga One of the best Kamen Rider designs ever. It has all the familiar things to a Kamen Rider, with a bit of a modern twist. What's not to love about Kuuga? He's a cool guy after all.

Runner ups: Kivara/Kiva-la, Kiva, Kamen Rider #1, Kabuto

in no particular order

1. w cyclone joker
2. w cyclone joker extreme
3. eternal (slick design especially with his cape and his eternal edge dagger)
4. diend (his blue is better than decade's pink)
5. joker (black and purple owns)

I would like to know what suits are your least favourite

I dunno, most of them are either great or pretty good, and there's a few that are just sort of throwaway whatever (stuff like G3 Mild, Hyper Gatack, that silver guy from the end of Hibiki, etc.) but a great costume will stick out in my mind more than one I didn't like. Also, after watching the Chaiyo Rider movie, anything Toei makes looks like a million bucks by comparison.

Kiva
-It was all that i was expecting in a vampire themed rider and more. I liked how the chains over the suit implied that they were hiding something. Especially on the right leg. The details on the glove were also a nice touch.

Dark Kiva
- All that I was hoping to see in kiva's powered up form. (unfortunately for me Kiva got emperor form instead) It's Got got a slightly sinister look that i think a hero could have pulled off if the series were a bit darker. (in that gothy sort of way)

Kamen rider 1 and 2 in the next
-While they looked good in the first movie it's little in perfections that improve they're costumes in the sequel. The scratches and discoloration in their helmet and suits really tell a story about what they've done between the films.

Kamen rider shin
-When i heard about the shin kamen rider movie I took a step back from my perception of the series and really thought about the concept. An ultra dark deconstruction of the franchise could be interesting. But only if the hopper was as monsterous as the creatures it fought.

I say all that so you really understand what i mean when I say I seriously think they overdid it. Shin is effin DISTRUBING. He's actually scarier than the creatures he fights agianst. Which may have more to due with the design of the villians or the direction of the movie. But even that doesn't take away from him.

Skull
-Likely a given in this thread. But I just love looking at that suit. Sleek, Stylish, Simple, and oozing cool. And that hat. I never thought I'd see a rider (or maybe any toku character) pull off a hat while henshined. Also props to him (and double) for bringing back to the scarf. As much as I like OOO's I was sad to see that element disappear again.

Honorable mention
-V3 in Kamen rider the next.
-Kamen rider ZO

Reading this thread I found some of my favourite suit designs listed, so I thought It would be cool to have a thread listing our favourite Rider suits!

ok here's mine:

5. Chalice - Stylsh and simple, they had a heart motif in a male rider and made it work really good!
4. Kuuga (And all his original forms) - An ancient take on the classic design, he looks fantastic with the shinny golden bits.
3. Kamen Rider 1 - just classic!
2. Super-1 - I love his helmet! Silver and black plus a red scarf looks very sober and sci-fi-ish.
1. Black - The best belt design, helmet and colour choices. Awesome!!

Honorable mention: Riderman - Totally retro, the lack of mouthpiece is something I would like to see again.

Well isn't it the sibling thread to Top 5 Uglies....

Here is mine:

5. Black (If you had asked me this last year he would be my number 1 favorite I got tired of him cause I have RAH figure in my room)
4. Another Agito (Simply stunning looks a lot like Shi except with more humanity so yeah... I really dig the dirty creature look)
3. V3 (I find the classic version really adorable... but the Next version is just Baddass)
2. Kaixa (Purple eyes, with Golden yellow trims all over him he looks like he fights for the lakers... but I dunno I just love this guy maybe it had something to do with Kusaka being such a baddass character)
1. Thebee (Looks like royalty to me... the whole gold get up makes him stand out from the rest of the kabuto riders... also I really dug how he's a bee.)
