UC gave us Gundam ZZ, the absolute worst Gundam TV series, and V, which was basically an early draft of Gundam SEED because the two shows share about 1/3 of the same principal staff.
I think there's plenty of room in Gundam for well-made alt-series and alt-continuities. There's just been... like, maybe one? The real problem with 00 and SEED began with the producers, honestly.

I really don't think 00 ended up that bad.
It's problem was that loads and loads of characters bit, but I really still think it wasn't a trainwreck like Destiny or the latter half of R2. Yes, I'm including the movie with that opinion. I think overall, it was a decent series.

the two most underrated Gundams are V and Turn A
how i see Gundam is the child of Tomino so if a gundam has Nothing to do with him it feels like there is something Missing
when i come to ZZ i dislike to but not a much as Say wing or G
you fail to see why Tomino changed the look and Feeling Of ZZ from Zeta was cause of interference of head office and his wife all 3 of hes last animes were dark in undercurrent Gundam 1st had a dark socio-political undercurrent [ but then again i did not notice this until i rewatched this after reading origins] ideon anime with highest body count in history

I can see an argument for Turn-A being underrated. The visuals are really nice and the story, though incoherent, is at least novel.
V? No, sorry, V is pretty bad. The animation is pretty slapdash, the themes are trite, the characters are mostly poor retreads. V has maybe one good idea and no good episodes. The entire production was regrettable.

Given Tomino's druthers, Gundam would've had no sequels. Frankly, he was right. Gundam should've had no sequels. So I think it's ludicrous to talk about His Holiness Tomino and Gundam as a franchise at all. Bandai wanted a Gundam franchise from the start, never Tomino.
No, I understand why Tomino did it. He didn't really want to make Z and wanted to make fun of its fans and the general "Gundam" fans of the day for a bit. Understandable.
ZZ is still a goddamn terrible show. It fails completely on its own merits. Everything ZZ was hamfistedly trying and failing to do was better-accomplished in ZZ's successor, Metal Armor Dragonar, which benefited enormously from leaving the Gundam franchise name behind.
In general, mecha as a genre tends to be healthier when the Gundam franchise goes dormant. Gundam tends to chew up good talent (like Tomino) and spit out mediocrity. I'd much rather live in a world where Tomino kept making creative stuff like Ideon and L-Gaim instead of Gundam.

Yeah, I thought Victory kinda sucked myself. I thought the show was poorly animated even for it's time. ZZ is good if you think of it as one big Scooby-Doo-chase

No. You don't get to say that to anybody here. You don't tell anybody how they see anything unless they're factually wrong which no one has been. You definitely don't get to say that to Lynx, I'm pretty sure she knows what she's talking about more than any of us. Why do you keep passing off these kind of threads as facts rather than opinion? It's damn annoying.
