Toku' Shows You Have Mixed Feelings About

Blade, again. I've put watching this on hiatus for the time being, partly because two 50-episode series are more than enough, but partly because I wasn't really enjoying it as much as I hoped I would. Something about it didn't feel quite right to me - it's hard to explain. It could be the character who don't really do anything for me at all apart from Kenzaki - they should be involving and likeable, but they just don't pull me into the show.

The designs are a real mixed bag, I think. The Undead designs are sometimes cool, sometimes really awful, however all four Riders look terrific and the card motif is done really well. The storyline also has a lot of interesting elements in it, the action scenes are fantastic and it's just generally pleasant enough viewing, but I don't feel involved which is the most important thing.

I'll most likely pick it up again later, but now... real mixed feelings indeed.

Kabuto

Tendou seem to have a god-like complex. It was like he was too perfect. What kind of bullshit was he grandmother telling him when he was a kid.:sly:
He acted like he was above everyone else

Kagami was more my favorite than Tendou. I like character that have flaws it make them seem more normal.

I second that.

Kabuto was supposed to have been like this dark toned season, but instead it made Tendou acted more of a dick.

Now, Boukengers....jeez don't get me started with that. I thought it was great, but then I realized that it was an ass-backward version of Indiana Jones meets Gaoranger meets Carranger.

I love the series, but the final episode just left a really sour taste in my mouth. Such a terrible let down. Such a waste.

I'm left liking the show ... but then not at the same time.

Dynaman- the series had an awesome soundtrack, the OP theme was awesome. And the villian stories were relatively complex for a toku series of that time.

But the heroes were average and the mech unremarkable.

Abaranger is definitely one. I liked watching Dino Thunder and the suits were cool. Its just the talking mechs and the silly plot prevented me from continuing.

Another one was Agito. I know most people love the show. And I do as well. Its just that the whole plot aspect that the dude in white and the dude in black were basically gods didnt sit well with me. I know its probably a silly thing to criticize cuz its just a show but its sort of a touchy subject for me and keeps me from totally loving it. And I loved the fights and just about everything else.

Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger

The first time I watch Dekaranger, I thought that it would top off Magiranger as the secondary serious like super sentai, but instead it was just a typical police show that acted more like a spin-off of Carranger than Winspector. I didn't mind Sen-san, Umeko, Jasmine, Swan, and Dogie but Ban, Hoji, and Testu just didn't work for me. Plus there wasn't at least a decent character development among any of the cast.

As I said like a dozen time, I think the Gas Drinkers, Blitz, Ben-G, and Succubus looked more main-villain material because I could imagine a bit of a mafia family war between those two groups and Agent Abrella would have served as Blitz's second-in-command than a war criminal.

Hmm. Is it something to do with possible religious implications? Just curious. BTW, love the ShishiRenjaa avatar and sig.

I was willing to put up with Tendou's arrogance because I thought they would evolve him out of it. Instead it just gets more obnoxious.

Kamen Rider Hibiki- I love the suit designs, bizzarely, but the singing and the characters were just terrible.

Ultraman- everything I've seen always seemed so wooden and one-dimensional, the designs were unimpressive and when it tried to be dark it just became a melodramatic convoluted mess.
