The second is that the next season of TMNT, said to return the Turtles to the present day, had to have two concepts pitched due to Peter Laird turning down the proposed original, which is said to have been...a Yu-Gi-Oh style card-based series

Okay so just because Yu-Gi-Oh has taken a different direction doesn't mean we need more card based shows...Chaotic is enough.

Well the new looks interesting, does seem abit more plain than the original style, but I like it, the theme tune seems more suited now, can't wait to see it.....that was the cwkids preview, guess no DK preview XD

I thought it was fairly good. Things were rushed as far as tying up the portions set in 2105, and I didnt care much for the cretacious and medieval jumps, but the hint we're getting a Shredder three-way in the near future set up great plot points for later in the season (as the Utrom Shredder returns, as does the Tengu Shredder, and Viral becomes Cyber-Shredder), another enemy they've yet to face, Khan, appears in this scene

I also liked how they got away with the mild cliffhanger regarding Splinter and not let the cat out of the bag that they can recover his code...which I hope only becomes a prominent storyline in the finale, leaving the Turtles with a full season coping on their own.

Seems pretty good. I hope they give the robot a redesign later on so he doesn't look so goofy.

The internet suits look neat. I think they should have gone a little more TRON-like with them, though. Make the green part on their faces their individual colors, so they don't just look like suits.

I just hope the storytelling ends up being at least close to as good as the first series.

Huh, the new theme song is actually quite catchy.

I'm really digging some of the new designs, like Cacey's new suit, and I love the way the new Shredder looks.

I think they really need to do something with Casey. I've always really liked the character, but he became kind of pointless towards the end of the first series. The enemies they started fighting were just way out of his league. His only job became to protect April, which ended up being fairly pointless when she learned ninjitsu.

I've heard this season is going to feature Casey and April tying the knot, and Usagi Yojimbo's dimension will gate-crash the reception to attend it or something

I agree that something needs to be developed with Casey further, but one of his shining moments was his touching relationship with Gabrielle and raising Shadow after her death, and I don't beleive, despite how much the current series has gotten away with, we'll get any coverage of that now.

Peter Laird's often admited in interviews that he gave orders to the staff writers of the current series to make April and Donatello "soul mates", but their differences in species prevents them from doing anything more intimate about that. Combine that with his recent revelation Leonardo had a breif romance with Doctor Radical prior to her death in the future of the official comics canon, and it's becoming apparent he's warming to the notion he wants to explore April or some other human having a relationship with one of the Turtles in an interpretation of the series or movies eventually...which ought to have been a notion from the beggining.

It was dismissed intially by him and Kevin as a "gross-out" option, but there's obviously some dramatic leverage to it, and fans think it beats going the "sisterly love" routine.

Anyone read the recent issue of Toyfare? It confirms the season finale will be a feature-length episode to celebrate the 25th anniversary. Given what I've heard and what's been hinted at, it may feature Usagi, Gen, April and Casey's wedding, and the Shredder War.
