The Valiants is a character-driven superhero story I originally conceived a few months ago. It takes place in an alternate version of the year 2000, the end of a very different 20th century, which I'll describe n the next post. Unlike Time Riders, I'm putting a limit to how many people can join, whether hero or villain. This is because it makes the RPG much easier to organise, so if you want to be accepted, you must be able to:
Now, that's the basics to help you decide if you can actually play. Below are the actual rules of the game. They're mainly standard, but worth a quick gander anyway.
That's all the rules out of the way for now. There are minor ones here and there in the character application, but only so they're easier to remember and you don't have to keep scrolling up and down the page.
REAL NAME:
AGE:
D.O.B. Remember that this story begins in 2000.
ETHNIC ORIGIN:
OCCUPATION: What does your character do outside of hero-ing?
ALIGNMENT: Good, evil or neutral?
ALLEGIANCE: If the character belongs to a team or works under someone, who is it? A hero doesn’t necessarily work for the Valiants, and there’s nothing stopping you from being a hero/villain-for-hire.
ALIAS:
POWERS: Don’t be silly with this. Only use powers that are practical. Don’t have, say, 10 types of vision if you don’t intend to use them all at some point. They don’t have to be supernatural, it could just be that your character is a judo expert or an elite hacker left over from the Net War.
WEAKNESSES: Everyone has weaknesses. It doesn’t have to be something like kryptonite, the best weaknesses come from the character’s personality, such as a phobia or even some kind of obsession or prejudice. There’s nothing stopping you from being totally messed up inside.
GADGETS: Some heroes don’t have any powers beyond their peak physical condition, and others like to be creative. Once more, be practical with these gadgets. They should be useful in some way, like Spiderman’s web-shooters or Batman’s batarangs.
REGULAR APPEARANCE: A brief outline of the character's appearance. Picture acceptable.
COSTUME APPEARANCE: A brief outline of the hero/villain's costume. Picture acceptable.
PERSONALITY: Just a few lines so we can understand the basis of the character. Likes, dislikes, fears, loves, how s/he interacts with others, all that jive.
HISTORY: Just a few lines. Everyone has a history, but don’t go into boring detail.
Heroes
THE VALIANTS: The United Kingdom's premiere superhero team, the Valiants operate out of the Millennium Dome, which serves as both a base and a home for some of the members.
Villains
L.E.G.I.O.N: A mysterious international terrorist organisation led by Mephisto.

- Write coherently. That means no mashed together paragraphs where it's almost impossible or simply boring to try working out what's going on. Come on people, you were taught English in school for a reason. If you think that means you have to write ridiculously long paragraphs, it doesn't, because I understand sometimes it's hard to put details in without being stupid about it.
- Create a character, or characters (I'm allowing up to three each so long as you can handle it), that is well thought out and will develop properly as time goes on. One of the main problems with Time Riders is the lack of real player cooperation, and since this is a game, doesn't it make sense that we can be friends over this?
- Keep up with the story so that we don't have to keep going back and repeat ourselves about what's happening. I don't mean sit at your computer 24/7, because we all have lives outside the board, and on that note, try not to put up too many posts a day. I won't put down an actual limit, as I'm sure good players will know when enough is enough for now.
Now, that's the basics to help you decide if you can actually play. Below are the actual rules of the game. They're mainly standard, but worth a quick gander anyway.
- This RPG is rated 12. That means I will allow mildly sexual references (but nothing graphic, making out's fine, but none of the old in-out). If you think it's important to the plot or will become an important factor later, just say that it happened, but don't go into detail. Some things should stay private. I am also going to be nice and let you get away with mild swear words, but know when to draw the line and don't use it too often. I don't really have a problem with swearing, but that's my own inclination, and I realise a certain age group of people may at one point browse through this thread.
- There is no real storyline, but separate sagas that follow a main villain. By default, I will play the main villain, however if you think you have a great idea for an arc, send me a private message telling me the story, and if I like it, we'll talk.
- This is one people seem to think I love and easily get angry about. I don't get angry, but it is extremely annoying to see people do this. GOD-MODDING and POWER-PLAYING! These are defined as when a player acts more powerful than they should and take control of gameplay elements (i.e. other people's characters) that aren't their own. Not every one of your attacks is going to hit, but not every attack is going to be dodged either. If a player has to leave for a certain amount of time, they can leave their characters to another player(s) but the other player(s) cannot kill off said characters without the express permission of the original creator.
- Give everybody a chance to play. If two characters are having a private conversation, say so in an OOC and we'll back off and let you carry it out, but don't make it drag on for ages and ages, and don't give away vital plot elements unless you're absolutely certain it's the right time.
That's all the rules out of the way for now. There are minor ones here and there in the character application, but only so they're easier to remember and you don't have to keep scrolling up and down the page.

- King Richard IV (57 years old) - The current King of England, Emperor of the Indian and African Colonies, Emperor of America and Canada, and a member of the Sovereign Caleigo. Strong, fiery and ever-vigilant, King Richard is a proud warrior who established the Supernatural Order of the Valiant Charge and appointed his second son as its leader. It is often said that Richard wields both Excalibur, as a descendant of Arthur Pendragon, and the Lance of Longinus, after the death of Adolph Hitler.
- Prince Randall (35 years old) - The jittery first-born son of King Richard and next in line for the throne.
- David Deary - The current prime minister of Great Britain, who is in charge of running the country's government under the supervision of King Richard.
- Terry Torrance - Public relations manager to the Valiants, he is an expert at what he does and is a strict worker. Terry is heavily connected in the media, allowing him to crush any kind of smear campaign against the team with relative ease.
- Amber Park - In charge of supervising the Valiants who still attend compulsary education. She is a kind person, and values proper schooling very highly. Like any good teacher, she favours good pupils, and has less patience with inactive ones, but this doesn't deter her from her duties.
