How was the original comapred to the 82 ver?.

The original was like watching an old 40-50's horror flick. Back then I am sure people found it scary, I thought it was fun. The 82 version is pure horror IMO. Yeah it has gore, but the gore works. I enjoy both of them. If you get a chance, please watch the original.

My friend decided to see it. He said it was **** and the only reason he saw it was because of being a big fan of Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

It's a rental for me when it hits DVD.

There is that odd time a remake surpasses the original. So I always keep my hopes high for remakes.

Finally watched it and it actually turned out pretty good. If you loved the 1982 film then this one is perfect for you.

The monster designs were spot on tribute to the 1982 Thing monsters as well. I was surprised at that. Good acting, lots of suspense, and pretty much the exact same formula as the Kurt Russell film.

Even the final form of the thing which used some CGI was very, very well done. The trailer didn't do this film justice.
