[MF] Choushinsei Flashman #48-50 (END)
Well last weekend when everyone else was checking out Gotchard's debut, I was concentrating on something a bit more old school.
Flashman is...okay. I've heard it get hyped hard for it's supposedly amazing story. Personally I didn't find it as enjoyable as either Changeman before it, or even Maskman behind it. Purely on the story it's more akin to Dynaman from a few years before, but that show had even better action on top of that.
Performance wise, the regulars all do fine. As is common for this era of Sentai, the villains stand out more than the heroes (as you'd hope, as we have the former Dyna Pink as well as a couple of actors who will get to flex their abilities even more in later seasons such as Liveman). There's also a couple of members of the Maskman cast popping in early. As the show goes on it increasingly focusses on the yellow ranger over the other four, and perhaps as a consequence she's easily the most memorable. Show out also to Mag for being a fun Alpha 5 style robot at the base.
The finale was a bit bittersweet, but I suspect that's less to do with the content and more to do with this being the last of the 46 previous Sentai seasons that I had to watch (at least as far as standard episodes go; There's always more miscellanea out there). Overall, Sentai's probably given me more enjoyment than Kamen Rider, and I've had a lot of fun. I think a bit of a break is in order before returning to toku, but there's always even more out there to see so these aren't over.
