The HJU Japan Thread - The Language/Food/Culture or anything else Nippon!

JFC is Canadian, if I'm not mistaken, so he would know a bit of French at least if not fluent French. We have a lot of languages with similar roots.

That looks like a cool blog, but my browser is set to confirm my navigation to pages and I had to cancel something. I'm not sure what it was. :eyebrow:

Well, i picked up the Rosetta Stone for Japanese.
It might not be a School Course taught by a native speaker, but it's a starting point none the less.

Ill supplement it with those Phrases books FQ recommended, then explore options for further learning in my area (Of which there are few i'm sure, but ill look).

I'm being English deprived this year. I want English before anything else at the moment. Rosetta Stone Japanese I may get later. Spanish, I won't miss as much and I won't lose it. Even if I do, I'll get it back quick.

Do NOT buy Rosetta Stone. It is WAAAAAAAY to expensive. Go buy a DS and get "My Japanese Coach". The combination of a DS and the game is about equal to Level 1 of RS.

 I played My Japanese Coach for a while. It did teach me a good amount, I must admit. I just lost all of the data and I can't find one of the games now.

Oh wow, kana strokes are incorrect as well. They even got な and よ wrong.

The good thing is that I didn't practice those too much so it's not stuck in my mind the incorrect way.

There's this guy who noticed it:

OMG,

that game really sucks! Even the hiragana got a wrong stroke order there (よ and な) ~.~

I prefer the good old book and a ballpen :>
