The HJU Great White North TV Thread!

Just out of curiosity, did the French version of Bioman and the other French dubbed Tokusatsus get shown in Canada?

If not, was it possible to watch French television in Canada through Satelite?

Also I heard CareBears in France is called Bisounours, but for French Canadians it had to be renamed Calinours because Bisou sounded too vulgar. Is this true?

Bioman and the others never aired here, though I think the Ultraman french dub did because my father remembers the Spacium Ray pose.

As for Calinours/Bisounours its actually just a toy/tv-show thing really... the toys were always called 'Calinours' on the bilingual packaging here but the old Carebear TV show was dubbed as Bisounours in France (and probably the toys too).

But when the Nelvana show came along both versions were harmonized as Calinours. No idea why... maybe so they could reuse the north-american bilingual packaging worlwide without having to pay for new translations.

Where any one of those on Radio-Canada?
I think i might have seen one or two of those.....

Most of those were on Radio-Canada 'cept for Bibi, Transformers and I think Sharky & George (though don't quote me on that last one)

Vrak.TV sucks so much... take all the suckiest parts of YTV, throw in WB 'White pretty rich kid with problem' shows (like One Tree Hill or Gilmore Girls) , add in some Disney Tween Comedies and only a pinch of good Nicktoons (Avatar and Spongebob) and a pretentious hip teen attitude and you get Vrak.TV. Augh.

It aired when I was a kid, it was some seriously awesome storytelling with a quest all over that island with wonderous locations and quirky puppets and it even had a friggin' ENDING! An actual final episode where they find the giant and wake him up!

That never happened back in the days >< an ENDING!
