Nice post!!
I liked Go-onger quite a bit less than Goseiger. I think a lot of that has to do with the cast composition. Sousuke is a character that needed to be supported by some equally strong character types, but instead his Blue and Yellow are pretty bland.
Sousuke really needed a Blue that could act as his straight man and a Yellow who was a more sensible or businesslike sort of character. Then Sousuke could've sparkled instead of just feeling a bit overbearing. He would've had people to contrast with.
Green and Black were pretty memorable, but they're also the character types of abject comedy. While Go-onger was willing to give a few nods to Carranger, it wasn't willing to be as completely satirical and irreverent. That left Green and Black a bit marginalized.
Goseiger's characters aren't wonderfully written or anything, but I can tell some thought has gone into coming up with the character types in the ensemble. You've got Agri to act as the straight man, Hyde as the eccentric smart guy, Mone as the rational girl and Eri as the highly irrational girl. Alata glues the team together by mediating their otherwise conflicting personalities.
The downside to this approach is that Agri and Hyde are really too similar. You can very easily use Hyde as a straight man despite the few eccentricities of his character, and his actor is a bit better at handling that type of writing. I think this has resulted in Agri just kind of taking up space unless it's a Landick episode.
