Watched Biollante, as well as the neat behind the scenes features.
Still so very eighties. I was kinda amused by the actions of a character or two from Not!Saudi Arabia and the American terrorist group Bio Major. I kinda got lost over the number of characters, but they were descent, if undeveloped. Still shocked at how casually the death of doctor Shiragami was treated at the end of the movie. I mean, he's kinda the main human character, the others were just like "meh."
Biollante was awesome, beautiful and frightening.
The behind the scenes features were a real treat, explaining how this was much of the crew's first fling with kaiju effects, how they operated Biollante, showing the deleted scenes, and an adorable scene where Megumi Odaka (Miki Saegusa) interacts with Godzilla for a press event. I guess there's something about interacting with the suit and the actor inside that makes one want to hug him.
