The B'stard finally finishes Kabuto

May as well ask, Shougo, what did you think of episode 44?

I've read people go on about that episode, but it didn't do much for me since I didn't care one iota about the characters. It was flashy, but that big fight means nothing if you feel nothing for the characters. Hopper's wishy-washy B.S.*, the fact that Nogi came outta nowhere didn't make for an exciting battle. How clear it was that the writers had no idea what to do with Kusakabe/Dark Kabuto...

*I would have even preferred had Yaguruma come to his senses and regained the now useless TheBee Zecter.

[HIDE]And right there's one (of many) huge problems with Kabuto. The Worms were never really anything beyond glorified grunts, and then suddenly in the last ten episodes you had the writers going, "Uh-oh! How in the hell can we end this? There are no villains for our superheroes to beat and triumph over, there's not any dramatic conflict, there's nothing at stake! Well, let's just bring in a familiar face and this Negishi dude who we'll pretend was there all along, although we never hinted at his existence...oh, screw it, let's just make everybody a Worm!" Those last episodes were so wonky, it was almost endearing.[/HIDE]

Uninvolving and aimless -- perfectly sums it all up. All the major players were out of a bad sitcom, there to spout their catchphrases and get into high jinks. By a certain point, I half expected Jaleel White to pop out from behind Bistro La Salle's curtains and ask Tendou for cheese.

I just finished Kabuto the other night.

God that was such an awful series! The characters were mostly all annoying and/or pointless, with the exception of Kagami.

Nice special effects, cool gimmicks like the clock up, cool suit designs etc, but complete lack of plot and lack of character development. To sum it up - all show with no substance, a blatant 20+ minute toy commercial and little more.

Anyway, Kabuto...I get upset when I think about the show. =( The first few episodes were amazing; in fact, I think Kabuto was on its way to becoming one of the best toku shows in a long time...until Yaguruma lost his TheBee Zecter. >_<; Then it all went downhill for me.

Kabuto is filled with could-have-beens. I was hoping that Hyper Kabuto could've been the Kabuto from God Speed Love, coming into the TV show timeline to give that Tendou the Hyper Zecter. I was hoping that dark Kabuto wouldn't be the same person as Hyper Kabuto, and that they wouldn't be Worms. >_>; In fact, I thought it would have been pretty cool to have that evil chef with the black knife or whatever become dark Kabuto. I hated Surugi (that's Sasword's name, right?) but I liked his final episode, and I was hoping that Misaki would inherit the Sasword Zecter (pshaw, fat chance). Similarly, I wanted Renge to inherit the TheBee Zecter after Kageyama used it one more time near the end of the show. The whole story with the Native was interesting at first, but it got dull. Hiyori's story was interesting, but confusing, and it brings me to what I hate the most about this show: whether a Native or an alien, everyone is a Worm! :redface2:

I liked the costume designs, the battles (when they weren't dominated by Hyper Kabuto), the cooking theme/motif, and the clock up/cast off features of the costumes. It's a shame the writers didn't know what they were doing. ;_;

It could have been so much more...

Edit: Oh, and I'm not even gonna mention the Hoppers...though they were cute for yaoi fans like me. ^^;

I was also hoping that the show would have stay connected to the movie, but we thought wrong. BTW, you spelled Sasword's real name wrong, it's Tsurugi. You forgot to add the "T" in the beginning. Plus, I don't see Renge having the personality traits of becoming ZaBee, nor do I see Misaki performing any swordsmanship in the show. She's more of a Gunslinger type of person. Know as for Oda/Kamen Rider Hercus and Shuda from the movie, they would be perfect to play some parts of the tv show as members of ZECT and as rivals to Kagami and Misaki, especially Shuda. She would have made an excellent ZaBee than Kageyama and Yaguruma combined.

I'm not gonna say it was an awful series, but the ending was a little...dull...especially compared to the big Climax (pun intended) at the end of Den-O.

Oops...right, Tsurugi. XP It's been a long time since I've seen Kabuto.

Eh, I guess it's mostly because I hated to see so many of the Zecters disregarded so easily. I would've liked *someone* to inherit TheBee. As for Misaki, I agree that she's more of a "gunslinger" girl as you call her, but I just feel that her becoming Sasword in an alternate version of Kabuto would've highlighted her connection to Tsurugi. I don't remember how she reacted to his death after the actual episode of the death itself...maybe she did, but like I said, it's been a long time for me.

I didn't really like God Speed Love too much, so I didn't even think to entertain the possibility of Shuda becoming TheBee. But yeah, mostly I just wish that the movie played an actual role in the series, while remaining an A/U in its own way.

(I know many people think that GSL's ending was the beginning of the TV Kabuto, but aren't there discrepancies in Tendou receiving the belt in both the TV version and the GSL ending? Thus I hold that the movie still plays no role in the series...sadly.)

Re: Misaki's reaction to Tsurugi's demise

Well, it was like this. Tsurugi wished that he would gone on his X'Mas date with Misaki as he planned, final duel with Scorpion-Worm Tsurugi, Misaki told Tendou to stop, too late, at some point she was suppose to cry over his death and scream at Tendou in his face but the stiff acting screw up the moment.

I really like Kabuto's movie, it's my top kamen rider movie(not counting the first and the next).
