The B'stard finally finishes Kabuto

I got 2 episodes left. And though the characters are a little...er...quirky at times, I still am loving it.

I love Yaguruma as Kick Hopper. He was delightfully mad, and his costume was cool. Great source of emo hilarity. I love it when he pets his zecter, like its his pet. And the episode with him, Kageyama, and Tsurugi fighting is going down as classic in my book.

The [hide]death[/hide] of Tsurugi was the best part of the show, and the episode that it happens is by far the best episode of the season. Tsurugi was my favorite character by far.

I wish they had used Daisuke/Drake a little more. Of the Zecters, Drake's gun was one of my favorites.

Tendou is a real dick throughout the show, and I don't start liking him until right at the end.

Kagami becoming Gatack is quite possibly my favorite Rider of the series. I think he is the real star of the show. His evolution from snivelling subordinate to the Riders into a hero himself was honestly inspiring. I don't know why, but even with all the talk, it was still a suprise to me when he finally became Gatack.

Makes you wonder how the hell two of the actors ended up being one of the populair actors these days?

I do like kabuto,was the first time i saw kamen rider. Even though the story was sloppy i still like it... the characters were so diffrent yet they all fit in the same show.

The characters other than Gatack IMO were boring or just stupid. Tendou was just an ass and not some one I liked at all, Sasword was ok till his big revelation then he was an even bigger comic relief, Drake was just boring IMO, the only good The bee was Kagami, and the hoppers were just lame with nothing redeeming about them.

Tendou is a real dick throughout the show, and I don't start liking him until right at the end.

Tendou is a huge ass, but later, you find out that he always has a heartfelt, logical reason for it. Clever, I'd say.

Though I feel the end of the show was just kinda anticlimatic. I woulda loved to see something like Den-O, with all of the Riders who were still alive fighting.

I actually like Kabuto. When I watched it the second time, I thought there were some flaws that should have been used in the second half such as more camera time with Daisuke, Yaguruma returning as KickHopper or ZaBee and there should have been more fighting in the ending. However, the Movie was the ****.

I wanted to spare everyone from that. :laugh: I'd like to just sum it up with a couple of curse words, but...

The characters were all either foolish, detestable, or useless, remaining unlikable caricatures until the end. Things would just happen in the show without reason, continuity wasn't a priority, the characters had screwy motivations... they clearly had no idea what they were doing with this show. It's partially constructed nonsense.

I was slightly more forgiving of Kagami but overall I agree with this totally. Though I was willing to abide Tendou's arrogance for quite awhile longer than I think I really even had the paitence for in the slim hopes they were going to go have him grow beyond it.

I still don't understand why people like it so much. It would be a different story if it were bad, but entertaining. You know, like Kamen Rider Blade often was. But it wasn't even entertaining! And I thought Faiz and Blade were really weak shows, but they at least had potential. IMO, Kabuto never even had that, it didn't offer anything.

Again I agree even on the Faiz and Blade points. If I remember right I actually finished watching Faiz during the time when Kabuto really started to grate on me and then started Blade soon after. Somehow all of my issues with those two shows seemed to become just a little less severe after having gone through trying Kabuto. The effects are quite slick so maybe that's it.

Were they really serious with characters like Tsurugi or The Hoppers? Couldn't they make up their mind how they wanted their characters, especially Tendou, to be? Maybe they shouldn't have brought in 1,000 characters they obviously couldn't juggle, since many would go absent for lengthy periods of time, only to return with different agendas or even personalities.

I feel like the show in general suffered from near total schizophrenia when it came to tone and character. Ever so often it wanted to be an Kamen Rider action show but it more wanted to be Yakitate Japan. Sometimes it just wanted to be a collection of totally unlikable assheads. Maybe there was a ton of writer rotation or maybe there was never a cohesive vision to begin with.

Ugh... I can't even imagine kids watching or liking this show. This one was definitely for the housewives -- it's no coincidence that the show serves as a casting pool for nearly every drama that airs.

Or maybe for housewives and then toy collectors who just want to keep the shinnies to keep coming.

*sigh* And remember, you asked for it...

Well, I've disagreed with you on Shin and some other things but our opinions on this show seem to be very much alike which is interesting.

EDIT: I wanted to at least try to list a few positives.

- Tadokoro.
- Riku Kagami. Hirotaro Honda's such an amusing weirdo.
- Sasword's design.
- The song "One World."
- Yaguruma when he first debuted. Once he kept trying to best Tendou, lost TheBee, and lost his mind, he went the way of the rest of the show.

- I kind of agree. I think he would be gold as a straight up cackling and costumed toku villan. Here he just seemed like an idiot when he'd just start dancing around for no reason.
-It's had at least a touch more Rideryness going for it than say, Drake's suit. Still thought it's Cast On form was fugly.

One of my own positives is that I liked Gon before the damn amnesia thing. I think maybe it was partly the actress and partly that the simple concept of a Kamen Rider traveling with a child that he protects works for me just as an idea. Something I would like to see again but much better done.

Shouji Yonemura wrote most of Kabuto while Toushiki Inoue wrote a bunch of random episodes. I think the problem was that Shouji Yonemura only wrote the episodes that introduced Kabuto, TheBee and Gattack, Toushiki Inoue wrote all the other Kamen Rider introductions, Inoue also wrote all the major episodes for the Kamen Riders he introduced, which leads me to believe that Yonemura really had no idea what to do with those guys and why Kabuto, TheBee and Gattack were the only ones who 1)stuck around for most the series and 2)didn't go through some weird personality changes.


May as well ask, Shougo, what did you think of episode 44? I think that's the one anyway, with the battle at Area Z. I thought that was probably the last really good episode of the series and would have loved the series a whole heck of a lot more if it stuck to that tone. The way the episode ended with Kusakabe vowing to destroy the world after Tendou took Hiyori from him made me think that there would at least be a pretty exciting ending, but he ended up being such a wasted character.
