The Amazing Spider-Man - Talkback

...Yeah you do know Marvel's been trying to get they're properties*X-Men and Daredevil are known* back for awhile right? So it's not as simple as Disney throwing money at Sony,Fox and the like.

I know that for sure.

Daredevil I know for a fact is coming back to Marvel as the rights expired from FOX already while X-Men is still under their own thing. So he and Electra could be a go in a reboot or perhaps, a continuation with Afleck as the character? Its a waste to ignore such an underrated movie series.

Then there Blade. I don't know if the rights for that are, but I hope Marvel could have another go at doing a fourth one that is tied to the Marvel films alongside Punisher.

Disney has clout on the airwaves and on the silver screen that neither of them combined. And besides, why not partner with them?

Universal and Paramount partnered with Marvel, why can't Fox or Sony do the same with theirs?

I know for a fact Sony wanted to insert the Stark building and likewise, Oscorp was to be inserted into the NYC skyline of the Avengers. So obviously, I can see further creative involvement between the two parties on this ,especially for the second Marvel film . Perhaps the Ultimate Spiderman will be adapted more or less in a sequel of Spiderman?

X-Men as a franchise.... I still have some faith in Fox in doing the series, especially with Millar now in charge of the creative team for the projects. For them too, I can see FOX co-producing with Disney to bring Wolverine and some others.....so perhaps we can see some Halle Berry with the Black Panther and Wolverine in Avengers 2 with Spider-man?

this scene alone is 10x better than Spidey Reboot

Could someone please ban this sexist, mysoginist dinosaur already? He contributes absolutely nothing.

On topic, Jaime Foxx is in talks to play Electro, and MJ's going to be in it too apparently. That might do wonders to draw me to a sequel of any kind. Found ASM overrated angsty drivel, felt like it was following DK's lead rather than lead us into a new direction. Spider-Man has very little innovative ideas behind it these days.

I think all superhero films after The Dark Knight have had or will have a tendency to emulate some of its stylistic attributes (although the immensely successful family-friendly Avengers movie might break this pattern a bit), but I never got the impression that The Amazing Spider-Man was in any way attempting to reproduce the kind of grim, sober atmosphere that Nolan's Batman films are characterized by. My supposition is that, if anything, they were trying to deviate from the tone of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films, what with their slapstick comedic devices and overuse of dramatic melodrama.

The Amazing Spider-Man was a more restrained, mature vehicle for the character, but it never felt as though the makers were attempting to be edgy, and I wouldn't ever really classify it as "dark." I think the stakes were just as high as they needed to be to tell a renewed origin story for a seminal version of the character.

I thought it was very different from either the previous Spider-Man films or Dark Knight. Dark Knight was posing psychological and philosophical questions, and was really dark action-wise. This on the other hand, had rather jumpy action and explored more human emotions. It felt like a high-school drama when it had to, and it felt like a Marvel film when it wanted to.

The scene where Uncle Ben died plus those final moments after the confrontation with Connors and the funeral really were heartfelt, IMHO. The former alone made it better than any of the films in the previous trilogy.

Plus the action is so different from other Spider-Man films, with much more creative use of webbing. I only wish it had been less half-hearted about the wisecracks. It seemed like the writers didn't have enough time to devote to that aspect of Spidey's way of fighting, and it would have been nice to have seen it gone all the way.

Well, I finally saw this movie and Dark Knight Rises (surprisingly, DKR is still playing in theaters here. It won't be long before they stop showing it of course, but still surprising)

Well, it's really good, but... I just don't know. There's something about it that I just cannot put my finger on. They developed it out better, took time to explain just about everything as clear as possible, paid homage to the things they had to change or cut out for the sake of this movie's take on the Spider-Man universe, and they did a lot of things really good. And yet... It's just not perfect. It's almost dull to me.

I can't point to anything specific without sounding like I'm nitpicking against things that are ultimately meaningless. It's just... This movie didn't go out of its way to entertain me in an extreme way. They just played it too safe. They had good character development, good story that holds together, added in the things people have been wanting to see in a Spider-Man movie... And yet, it still came off as dull or restrained to me. Wish they could have done something a little bigger and bolder, something spectacular (no pun intended).

Maybe I am just too use to big explosions and all the cliches that go into summer blockbusters these days, but... Do I really have to choose one over the other? Is it at all possible to have it both ways? Good character development, cohesive story, bold and interesting scenes you didn't expect or didn't see coming yet don't detract from the movie in any way, and exciting battle scenes and what not that can surprise you at every turn and leave you on the edge of your seat? Maybe I am just asking too much...

I loved how it did it because it was like the 2008 Hulk film.

I felt zero emotion about Ben's death because there was not much screen-time for him and I couldn't really care about it. Much of the film felt this way, especially when I didn't or couldn't focus on the film from sister and her friend leaving without much of a notice.

Its well shot and it was good, but it felt like it was too much of a rehash.

I'll have to watch it again.

But the best thing I loved about the film is that it was shot traditionally for much of the scenes than CGI and that the characters felt more based in reality. Hopefully they coincide this series with the second Avengers cycle as it has potential to be the next Iron Man and because it really fits with that world.

The action was great, but I agree they had to do the wisecracks more often.
