Tekken Movie Trailer

as long as i see certain moves from each character (ala Mach Breaker/Bryan, Mental Alertness or DAH!/Jin, etc.) i would be slightly statisfied

If there is one..it doesn't look like it

"In the year of 2039, after World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations; the mightiest of which is the Mishima Zaibatsu. In order to keep the masses down, Mishima sponsors the King of Iron Fist Tournament, or Tekken, in which fighters battle until one is left standing, who in turn will receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth. We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama, a teenage street fighter who enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon the Mishima Zaibatsu's most powerful and controlling chairman – Heihachi Mishima. He knows that the only way to get close enough to Mishima to kill him is to win the tournament, but in doing so, he begins to uncover his own past and inner demons as well as exposing a dark underbelly to Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity."

The fight scenes better look good with all the fighters in there. I wonder why they chose Christie over Xiaoyu to be the main girl. Doesn't makes sense to me.

If a U.S release date still hasn't been announced, then they might be considering a straight-to-DVD release, like Dead or Alive.

The fighting looks solid, and certain characters look good. But why start at 3? :/ I mean, if they are low budget, why not try and start at 1, use a mix of fighting and story, and try to get enough money to make it into a franchise? If you stay true to the original people will pay to see it. But it seems this is going to stray a lot. I pray I'm wrong, but thinks like Dragonball Evolution never really help :disappoin Japan should have made this first, at least they try.

I just hope the fight scenes don't have too much slow motion to try and show "oohh, look how cool this is" or too much quick cutting to where I can't tell what the devil is going on.

So they could have Jin's story with a more paragon protagonist. You can only go so far with Kazuya's story, besides Kazuya's tale was adapted already.

And people will pay to see it regardless of how exact it is to the source, as long as it has respect for the source. Like Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Star Trek, etc.

Dragonball Evolution was another Fox disaster with no intent for respecting the source let alone making a good movie, just another shitty adaptation to cash in on another fanbase. Tekken is an independent production with staying true to the source as a clear objective (they wouldn't have casted Nathan Jones after all) even with a minimal budget. You don't need to worry about it being DBE level crap.

Many studios try with adaptations, Japan, hell the entire oriental film industry isn't exempt from shitty adaptations. Like King of Fighters and those terrible Crying Freeman movies (not the one with Mark Dacascos). It all depends on who is attached to the project. As you can see with Tekken Dwight H. Little tried to do a good martial arts movie, he didn't make a movie with the sole purpose of disregarding the source and just putting out another crap fest to make money (hell he didn't even know if his movie would ever be released come November 2009, he didn't even have a distributor) like Dragonball Evolution or Legend of Chun Li. Sure if he got a decent budget for an action movie like say $50 to $70 million then we'd get something that looks a lot closer to Tekken but what we have now isn't so bad. And looking at the recent fighting game movie adaptations, it could have been much worst if the project was sent to someone else.
