The episode is based on Scenarios 17 (attack of Vigaji/Gulgaw, arrival of Rätsel/Trombe) and 18 (attack of Agiha/Silberwind, arrival of Masaki/Cybaster) of the SRW OG2 game. The game is about 42-43 scenarios long.

That's an ideal amount of material for a 26-episode TV series. Particularly, it means Obari can cover every high point of the game with plenty of episodes leftover to add on a new ending if they decide to go that route.
