Stupid/weird stuff they made you watch in school(somewhat long opening post)

My class did Lord of the Flies, which is a common book to read in schools, but there is a scene where someone smashes someone else's head in with a rock. We had to watch a video in class of the movie version, and when we got to that bit, my so-called friend (whom I sat next to in class) turned round and threw up on me. She said it wasn't intentional. Yeah, right :eyebrow:

Hot.

Forbidden Planet is actually a pretty deep movie, much more than the goofy designs and antique special effects would lead you to believe. There are a lot of references to Freud and his concepts of the layers of consciousness, and how our lowest level, the id, which is responsible for all our most ignominious unspoken desires, has undetectable influence on our subconscious and conscious minds. So it's like revealing people's true colors when their repressed selfish motivations leak through their external, voluntary behavior. Plus it had Leslie Nielsen in it.

If anyone took Spanish in high school, do you guys know about / remember Destinos? That stuff was pretty hilarious in a sort of melodramatic way.

omf there's a trope page for it. Here, this explains it better than I can:

An edutainment show in the style of the popular Latin American "telenovela", a kind of soap opera. The show follows the adventures of a lawyer, Raquel Rodriguez, as she travels the globe and investigates the secret past of the Castillo family. All the dialogue is in Spanish, but with some narration in English for much of the series. The show also includes scenes that cut away from the action to present vocabulary or information about the culture of the country being visited. The show has accompanying textbooks, compact discs, etc., and is used as the foundation for Spanish courses in high school and college.

We also watched Pedro Almodovar movies. It made Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown one of my favorite foreign films ever x;

Which version did you watch? If it was the most recent one, I'd like to second that as my nomination for this thread.

There was one time the school had a lecturer from a local college to come over and had his laptop plugged to the white screen.
He opened the folder where his presentation was supposed to be and there were a couple of porn clips in it with their appropriate names.
