Street Fighter IV: Location Test Run

I went to Akihabara the other day to line up for the first of few test locations in Japan for an early test version of Street Fighter IV. The SF4 machines were on the 3rd floor of the game center and I was at the back of the line...

...on the 1st floor.

But along the stairways were a bunch of monitors showing all the action. It gave me some time to kill until my turn was up.

When I sat down at the machine any played it. There were only a few selectable characters on this version of the game. This current version's roster consisted of:

- Ryu
- Ken
- Guile
- Chun Li
- Blanka
- Sagat
- M. Bison (better known as Balrog in the US version)
- Dhalsim
- Zangief
- Abel (A new character who seems to be a Shotokan guy from France)

It felt kinda like Street Fighter III but more faster. The controls felt tight and it was easy to execute your moves. Surprisingly, I was able to beat 5 guys in a row before I got obliterated by a Blanka player.

The graphics were REALLY impressive. It's basically kinda like Appleseed and Vexille meets Street Fighter. Y'know, that kinda cel-shaded look but with TONS of detail. Whenever you do your super move or a counter-attack, you get treated to some really crazy camera shots and animations. To see what I'm talking about, click here.

After I finished, some survey guy in a Capcom shirt came up to me:

"So could you tell me what you think?" he asked.

"Well, the grahpics are really good cause they're not trying to be like the other games at the same time of being pretty detailed and the gameplay is pretty loyal to Street Fighter."

"Anything else?"

"Yeah...where the **** is Fei-Long?"

"Oh...heh...ummm...well...it's still an ealy version."

"Yeah yeah..."

And then I walked away.

As a fan of Street Fighter, I'm pretty happy so far with what I've played though.

When I first saw the video I had a feeling it would play somewhat like "Street Fighter III".

Im just tired of hearing people bitch and nag about the graphics. Even though people are entitled to their opinions, they need to give it a chance before really judging. The bulky look of the characters doesn't bother me one bit. Of course this is coming from a hardcore Street Fighter fan, so...

Im glad know we will be seeing the return of the "World Warriors", and hopefully the "New Challengers". Also some of the new characters look to be promising. Yet im still unsure of this "Crimson Viper" character. Im suprised she wasn't avaliable on the character roster, considering she was revealed a month before Abel.

I have high hopes for this game. And until we see it's console release, "Super Street Fighter II HD Remix" should suffice.

the gameplay is whats most important to me although i was hoping for superb 2d graphics like KoF XII.either way ill be playin the hell outta the game because its street fighter.anyone with a ps3 holla at me because ill be splittin wigs(or delivering justice lol) on super street fighter 2 turbo hd remix when that hits...

well I already figured the game wouldnt be terrible. But it also doesnt look like anything new besides the graphics.

These newest wave of gameplay videos has really pumped me up for this game. The graphics are satisfying and from what you said, Bueno, it plays really well. I cant wait for it to come out in the States, as well as the HD remix.

Does anyone know if the parrying system is still intact in SF4?

I saw a comment that said Sakura and/or Ibuki might be in the console version of SF4. Also, they're actually paying attention to the fans suggestions for the roster. Hopefully that gives Dan a good chance. :D

If Sakura is in it Capcom better remember timeline issues and make sure shes not a School girl. Since by SFII shes starting college, so by SFIV she'd be in her mid 20's

Dan's gonna be in SFIV one way or another
