Street Fighter IV - 2D, 3D.... or 2.5D?

Wasn't Dhalsim usually a top-tier character? I thought so, but maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway, some Brazilian game blog seems to have more info. No idea if it's true or not. Plus 2 new pics. Not diggin' these pics as much... I mostly like them and still think they've got the art matched really well in 3D, but Ryu and Ken's faces look a little doofy.

The graphics aren't the way they are in the teaser that everyone watched. The game's still pretty, but it has nothing of that ink-splashing or anything. Art direction is interesting. Unlike all the other 3D fighters, SFIV is not meant to be photo realistic.

Street Fighter IV runs at 60 frames per second.

Street Fighter IV will have online play.

The game takes place after Super Street Fighter II Turbo and before SFIII. The good news is that the character roster will be made of many old-school brawlers and some entirely new ones. There are two new girls on the list. We will probably not see any SFIII characters.

The stage you saw at 1Up, if you didn't figure out, is Chun-Li's Stage from SF2.

The excellent Parry system form SFIII is gone. The new system seems to be called Saving or Revenge (we're not sure about the name). We don't know exactly how it works, but it's built around cancels. And we do know we'll have another gauge to activate the Saving/Revenge stuff, besides the usual Super Gauge.

Supers are there (although they didn't decide yet if it will be like in SSF2T or SFIII), and now they've put another moves called Ultras. These makes your character throws a auto combo with tons of moves. It's like a custom combo ... except by the custom part.

Shen Long may appear in the game. We are NOT kidding.

The consoles are not decided yet, really. But, assuming that SFIV will have online play, we can obviously think of Xbox 360 and PS3 (duh). It's very likely that we'll see an arcade version without online mode too, and our sources told us that Capcom could put some test machines in Japan arcades in Q2 next year.

Don't like that they're putting the continuity between II & III. It'll probably end up screwing up the already convoluted storyline. No SFIII characters kinda sucks too although honestly I didn't care for many of them and the cooler ones like Yun, Yang, Makoto & Ibuki would be too young to appear. I'm guessing the majority of SF2's characters will return now. Not sure I like that...this isn't the Alpha series. I thought the theme was for each main numbered game to have a mostly new cast. Oh well.

Why not? I love Dhalsim

He doesn't fit storywise. His story was largely self-contained and never affected the other three.

And I'm not sure how this can affect or screw-up the story if its between SSF2T and SF3.

Ryu and Ken's story was never resolved, we only know that Ryu did not fight Sagat during the tournament and that's really it. We can guess from Urien's speech that Chunli helped bring down Shadaloo but probably didn't personally defeat Vega (Guile likely did).

Shen Long? Do they mean Gouken or Goutetsu because those two would have been dead for a while and only way I can see them appearing is in a dream match scenario.

Guess at the roster:
Ryu
Ken
Chunli
Dhalism
Gouki/Akuma
Guile
Zangief
Cammy
Sakura (a new incarnation of her)
Sagat
Balrog (Claw)
Bison (Boxer)
E.Honda
DeeJay
Guy
T.Hawk
Shadaloo figure...
Blanka

Well heres my guess at/wish list for the roster:
Main Character: Dan Hibiki
Ryu
Ken
Chun Li
Lin (or w/e her name was, Chun Li's adoptive daughter)
Sean
Ken's Son
Adult Sakura
Fei Long
Dee Jay
Shadow/Charlie
Guile
Alex
Guy
Cody
E. Honda
Blanka
Dhalsim
Gill
Zangief
Sagat
Cammy
Oro
Q
Juli & Juni
Akuma
new characters

Officially, Akuma's the one who killed Bison in SSF2T. Also, how could you leave out Dan?

Yes there is the Akuma one but we don't know when that occured, whether it was before the finals or afterwards or what.

We know from Ryu's speech in SF3 that he likely fought Dhalism at least once during the tournament hence his comments to Necro.

Dan? Well I suppose if Sakura was in this game, then he should be in it as well, I forgot if they made this official or not but in one of the manga's, Sakura basically uses him as adult so she can track Ryu down. According to Karin's Z3 info, she lent Sakura her jet at one point and possibly battled her in Thailand after their confrontation with Vega, so I doubt it.

Lyn and Mel aren't even 12 or so by SF3, I think. Wouldn't it be stretching it to put them in? I could see Guy or Cody again before them. Maybe even Eagle or Rose.
