I was probably the one who perpetuated this pairing way back when... :laugh: :anime:

I think shipping is fun and harmless, if people don't like force their pairings down other peoples throats or tell you what your shipping is wrong. It can get like that a lot though.

I don't think anyone here is saying that certain ships are "wrong", just strange. You can see from canon why someone would ship (for instance) Sousuke/Miu or Takeru/Kotoha or Hiryuu/Sayaka. But not characters who hardly speak to each other or are in other relationships

Joe x Luka aren't really strange, they made a good combi together.
Marvelous x Ahim is every shipper's choice even before the series aired... but I think it's just overrated because not every Sentai relationship must be like Jetman and Boukenger.

Oh yeah, Tsukumaro x Sae from Gaoranger also kinda strange...

Yeah, but back when Gokaiger still around episode 1, most shipping fanart in Gokai is Marv x Ahim, Joe x Luka or sometimes Don x Luka.

I know love story isn't the biggest part in Gokaiger, but the series written by Arakawa usually have two characters who ended up being couple (Yukito & Emiri, Sen & Umeko).

It's entirely fan-created, though - in the show itself, they aren't interested in each other (well ... Marvelous leered over her cosplay pics, but in the same episode he wanted to put his hands down Luka's front, so I think he's just a pervert :sweat

People tend to assume that the Red and Pink Rangers will always be a couple or at least get ship tease, but there are only three out of 35 series where Red/Pink is canon (JAKQ, Boukenger and Timeranger.) Maybe four if you count White Swan as a Pink

But by this time into their run, both of those shows already had at least one canon couple (Asuka/Mahoro and Ban/Marie, respectively.) Gokaiger doesn't

Don't know about that, I still see plenty more of Marvelous X Ahim pics than I do Marvelous X Luka so yeah.

I get the impression that Japanese fans prefer Marvelous/Ahim but more English-speaking fans like Marvelous/Luka - probably because of the difference in how female characters are presented in the media (i.e. we're used to seeing tough action girls, they're used to seeing demure stay-in-the-kitchen types)

Fan shipping has no bearing on canon, either. The real Marvelous seems to want a harem that includes Jasmine too
