Steins;Gate

It's not just the deaths. It's more of Rintaro's psychological state. Imagine, having to undo everyone's happiness that "he granted" with his discovery. It was beyond heart breaking for me to watch. One by one, he granted everyone's desires. It was all uphill for him, and then after that, he has to tear it all down, and only he would remember every bit of it.

That's when I thought, "To save the thing most precious to you, to make things right, how much of others' happiness do you have to destroy?"

Things must be set right, things have to go the way they have to, but is it for the best for you or for everyone?

I hate thinking, and I hate anime that makes me think about things analytically. But this anime hits a psychological nerve, and if everyone thought about it, you'd realize that it's something the average person thinks about: "If there was something I want to change in the past, what would it be?" And it's always a thought about you, and not about the repercussions it could cause.

Here's an alternate telling of Steins;Gate. This series of "clips" from the Drama CD γ (Gamma) takes place in a γ (Gamma) World Line, titled Divergence 2.615074% - The Hyde of a Dark Dimension. Includes voice actors from the anime, even though the 3 Drama CDs are from the game, including Mamoru Miyano Asami Imai, Kana Hanazawa, and Tomokazu Seki. This is the third of three Drama CDs, the first being "α (Alpha) Sekaisen daiba - Divergence 0.571046%" and the second being "β (Beta) Sekaisen - Divergence 1.130205%". The α World Line's Divergence is around episodes 21 and 22 of the Steins;Gate anime, which is after the Loto 6 D-Mail and not only cancelling out Moeka's D-Mail, but altering it so that the outcome is different. The β World Line's Divergence is where the story began, and where the anime is now.

The story takes place after the events of episode 18 in the anime (even though the anime came later, the event must be in the game), where Rintarou Okabe of the β (Beta) World Line, the Okabe we know, takes the place of the Rintarou Okabe of the γ (Gamma) World Line, a ruthless Rounder by the name of M3. With his Reading Steiner ability that allows him to retain his memories, Okabe does all he can to make sure that this γ (Gamma) World Line does not exist.

That's how it is. In the anime, one change as significant as prevent Kurisu's death will alter cause a shift in the World Lines, moving from one main World Line to another.

The major factor in the shifting from the β World Line to the α World Line is a certain event: Kurisu's "death" (I put it like that for a reason). By preventing that all in all, it goes from a World Line where Kurisu is "killed" after the discussion panel to a World Line where the discussion never took place because of the "satellite," thus changing Kurisu's time of death.

The γ World Line doesn't exactly say HOW Rintaro Okabe got there, but it's hinted that he returns to the α World Line instead of the β World Line.

Essentially, World Lines like α, β, and γ are more easily defined as "parallel universes" while the branches in the World Line through the small changes in the Divergence Meter and such that don't go beyond 1% can be defined as "alternate outcomes", or "what if lines".

Kyouma meets is 15 years in the future in the cellphone & teaches him how to save Kurisu from being changing the past. Now he's back with his laughs again.

Wait, so...

If he saves Kurisu without changing the past, that would mean that 7/28/10 β Okabe will still go to the α World Line. He'll still go through all that and come back to that point. It'll be in a loop.

So how will they fix that?

I also know the outcome, as this anime follows the game story line to the T. But it's much more satisfactory to visually experience it (and cry ; A; ).
