Spider-Man 3 - Talkback *SPOILERS*

Raimi didn't want to use Venom? Partially explains why it took him so damn long to finally show up.

Yep. Orginally it was gonna be Sandman and Vulture, but Avi Arad forced him to use Venom. Here's the article explaining his orginial plans.

I still haven't seen the movie yet(I'm gonna Sunday for my birthday) and with all the negative reviews I'm hearing I'm started to get a little worried.

Watched the movie yesterday, though it came out on the 1st...

The special-visual effects were absolutely amazing, but some parts of the movie was a little boring. I found Dark!Parker to be hilarious, I laughed till my cough came back...[hide] he reminded me of certain Imagin[/hide]

The relationships part was nicely done, a bit of a sad ending...[hide]nearly every character cried...[/hide]

Awesome movie! I loved it! I hope they leave it as is instead of trying to milk this franchise for a fourth installment. To me, this Trilogy is perfect as is and if they do make another one, It's gonna feel forced. I'll be seeing again tommorrow with the wife. :buttrock:

A lot of those reviews are overexaggerating, most of them even say they "won't go again", but if they did, they'd probably see how excellent the film is knowing what to expect and looking for what DID work, which is 90% of the film, the remaining 10% was the misuse of Venom.

According to an interview by THC on the radio the orginal idea was to have Spider-man 3 play out over 2 movies, but Sam decided to back everything into one movie. He said even though they put everything in this one it did come together nicely and there is closure on a lot of issues. Ivan Raimi wrote
a script which had a lot of stuff, so Alvin Sargent decided to right it as 3 & 4,
but he couldn't come up with a good cliffhanger, so he decided to put the most important stuff in one movie.

Couldn't think of a good cliffhanger? Err, how about the Venom birth scene? That would have been nice.

I was surprised that Venom didn't say "We".

That's always been one of Venom's big character traits, and IIRC from the '94 cartoon, it was a big deal when the Carnage symbiote bonded with Cletus Kasady, and Carnage refered to himself as "I"

Did they even say the name "Venom" at all?

It was alright. There were a couple of moments where we were laughing at parts that weren't supposed to be funny and some parts where I went WTF?! but it was still fun all around.

[HIDE]I just gotta know, what was the song that was playing during Pete's street dance?[/HIDE]

They didn't actually name Venom.

Venom says "we" because Eddie Brock and Venom are two entities working together whereas Cleteus is totally nuts and him and the Carnage symbobite are so alike, their one person. Hence "I".

I know. The scene where Brock rises from the catherdral made the trailer, and from the ealry previews, everyone assumed that was the film's natural conclusion. Heck, it had already went a good length and if the whole confrontation with The Sandman atop the construct had been kept with all of the developments sans Venom, it would have made for a film that served Marve's need for the character, and would have instantly guaranteed a stable sequel and commitment from the actors.

Sargent fumbled the ball as much as Rami and Arad on Venom.
