"Space Squad" Movies - Gavan and Dekaranger

Jesus, I had no idea the Next Generation specials were THAT bad (I haven't seen them). That kinda disappoints me since Arakawa wrote those as well, and he's usually way less sexist than that (although I'm not sure how much of it is Sakamoto's fault). Well, I'm fairly certain the Dekarangers are going to be carrying these specials anyways.

Still would like to hear if Kenji Ohba will show up though, even if it's just a cameo. They need to do some serious repair to his character after the way he was treated in Super Hero War Z.

There's an image going around that supposedly comes from the Gavan vs Deka movie. It's suggested that this is a flashback to an event that happens between 10YA and the new film, rather than something that happens during the film itself.

Yeah, the Gavan movies have been pretty "meh" and the best thing about Shaider's was seeing old man Juspion as a waiter!

I love the Metal Hero concept but, in order to get a real restart, they need that clean break from the Showa era and radical rethink that they gave the Kamen Rider franchise. It needs to feel fresh and, right now, it's anything but. So, new perspectives and, most importantly, new characters; legacy characters are fine but, it's not going to reach the new viewer as they're not "theirs" - they're their Dad's!

Great. I´m always ready for more uchuu keijis, and Arakawa is the right man for the job (Sharivan Next Generation was one of the best tokusatsu´s releases of this century).

The waiter in Shaider Next Generation was not Seiki Kurosaki (Juspion´s actor), but the singer Akira Kushida.

Kenji Ohba will be reprising his role as Retsu Ichijouji/Gavan! Not only that, but Ryuu Hoshikawa will be reprising his role as Mad Gallant from Juspion, and Mikie Hara is also appearing as an updated version of Benikiba from Jiraiya. Toru Inada and Mako Ishino will also return to reprise their roles of Doggie Kruger/DekaMaster and Swan Shiratori.

With these casting announcements, it sounds like this movie won't just be a celebration of the Space Sheriff trilogy but the whole Metal Hero franchise. Sounds like a fitting 25th anniversary special.

Good to hear Ohba is back. Putting in elements from other Metal Hero series is very nice of them too, I can only hope it lives up to the hype. I guess "Superhero year" has lasted more than a year?
